We’re best known for our iconic bakes, fresh sandwiches, delicious hot drinks and sweet treats. Over eighty years ago, John Gregg started out with one goal: to deliver (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the families of Newcastle. Ten years later, he chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth.
Since then, we’ve opened more and more shops and have become something of a Nation’s sweetheart. Our menu has also changed with the nation’s taste. Long-standing Greggs fans among us may even remember the olden days before the hotly debated Vegan Roll, or our refreshing iced drinks.

Everyone can have a bad day, but in a customer-facing role it shouldn’t reflect in the service provided. Thankfully, Bala, the manager, was excellent, friendly, professional, and very helpful. He completely turned the experience around. A big thank you to him.

A man stepped into your store straight off the train into Our city and ask if he can use your toilet, your staff member barked at him now it’s just for a customers! I told her I had just bought two cold bacon bats and two terrible cups of coffee so he could go in on my use. No she said he’s not with you. Bristol city Council through lack of funding have shut most public toilets throughout our city and shops like yours won’t even afford somebody to use their toilet who is literally breaking their neck needing to go When we’ve got mad politicians dropping bombs and mass genocide throughout this world, come on Greg, a tiny bit of humanity should not be too much to ask!! Shame on you, shame on you and shame on your Staff!!!

And the prejudice she had against me was clear. Just because I was a black man, and so the treatment was very different from what I was able to follow while I was in the establishment. I don't recommend this Gregg's to anyone who is black-skinned.

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
