  Review: Disheartening Experience at Panera Bread (Towne Lake) This a review from our experience on Wednesday April 1st, 2026 between 1:00 and 1:30 p.m. We have been a loyal Panera Bread customer for many years and have always enjoyed the quality of their food, but my recent visit to the Woodstock location off Towne Lake was nothing short of appalling. As two senior women in our 80s, we expected a simple, pleasant lunch. Instead, we were served inedible food and treated with a shocking lack of basic courtesy. We ordered our usual favorites, but what came out of the kitchen was unrecognizable. The broccoli cheddar soup was unbelievably watered down. It was so thin it could barely stay on the spoon, which is a far cry from the rich, creamy consistency Panera is known for. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the French onion soup was like thick syrup. It had clearly been sitting on the heat for so long that it had reduced into a sticky, overcooked mess. It was completely unappetizing. The service, however, was the most disappointing part of the afternoon. When our bread arrived without butter, I stopped an employee who was walking around cleaning tables to ask for a few pieces. I was stunned when she looked at me and said, "oh, we don't do that here" before walking away. She didn't offer to check the kitchen or even attempt to be helpful. To be told that a restaurant "doesn't do" butter is a level of laziness and disrespect I have never encountered. I informed the staff that we will never be back. This location has serious issues, whether it is a lack of management or a complete failure in the kitchen. If the regional director is paying attention, they need to realize that the current staff is driving away long-term customers. This location needs a total overhaul or a serious retraining of the entire team. We expected much better from a company we have supported for decades.

  Very slow service time. I waited 20 minutes today for a sandwich. There was less than 10 customers in the store.

  The service was great! Good was good as always. The manager, Chance, was very young and I was impressed at how organized everything was and with the way he communicated so clearly with his staff. He offered to help them and was kind and respectful. Made my day!
