I just went up there to get my daughter and iced coffee. I went through the drive through and ordered a French vanilla iced coffee with 3 extra liquid sugars. I pulled up and paid. Got the drink , handed it to my daughter and drove off. She hollers eyuck!! Do I hit the brakes and asked her what was wrong??
She said , I just took a big sip and got nothing but chunks of sugar in my mouth. I said, what do you mean? And she lifts up the cup and you can see all the granulated sugar on the very bottom of her cup. About a half inch of it. So I parked and went inside.
They all looked at me holding that drink, but nobody acknowledged me. All 3 girls just ignored me like I was Casper. I waited and waited. I think they cleared 2 or 3 cars through the drive through. Made about 5 or 6 drinks. So finally I spoke up and said... well since im just going to be ignored, ill just take a refund and a donut. Still nothing. Not a look or anything. One girl goes to the sandwich station to make some food in the other girls went over there with her to where I couldn't see anybody. And I heard one of the girls say... "the one I JUST MADE?!?!"
Still nothing. They finished up the two or three drinks that was still sitting on the counter. Finally after about 5 mins or so of just standing there at the counter with nobody else in the store, the girl came over and went to tapping on the computer and says, so whats the problem?? I said yallmade this ICED coffee with granulated sugar. Still not looking at me or anything.. repeats herself.. so whats the problem??? I said THATS the problem. Yall made my babies drink with granulated sugar instead of liquid sugar. Knowing that won't dissolve in there. She then informs me that that was their new policy. I said, what is your new policy? What does that mean? She said that we make all of our coffees with granulated sugar.Unless the customer specifies. She said we hardly dont use the liquid sugar anymore. I said , well , I used to help run the store for many years. And I pointed to the empty liquid sugar bottle and said it looks like , y'all ran out of liquid sugar , and you're just using granulated sugar. She still stays with the "its our new policy" story. I informed her that I would call ****** another barista that works there, to ask her about this new policy I've never heard of. By this time, im trying to keep my composure and just get out of there. She gives me the refund, and as im debating on buying my daughter a donut to fix this mistake, she asks me if I want my receipt as she is dropping it onto the counter. I said no and walked out.
Shame on the other 2 girls who never even spoke to me. Or acknowledged me. And shame on that girl for not owning the mistake, and trying to correct the situation.
Just coming up with some off the wall, random story. I did call my friend. And as no surprise to me, there is NO new policy. And they WERE out of liquid sugar. When we were out of liquid sugar , when I was the assistant manager, , we would inform the customers that we are having to make a simple syrup or having to dissolve the sugar. To put in the ice coffee so that they were made aware of the situation and they could make the call on if they still wanted the coffee or not. We would get a little bit of hot coffee and put the amount of sugars in that that they should have to dissolve the sugar or we would mix it with a little bit of hot water just to dissolve it, then add it back to the coffee. Stuff happens. And from working there during the pandemic, and sometimes working everyday for weeks straight because nobody wanted to work, I know every tip and trick for that place.
But to those girls, and especially long ponytail red fingernail tip girl, if you dont have any people skills, your in the wrong business. If you continue acting like that, your going to keep driving dunkins customers away, and you won't have a job anymore. I am very disappointed that this is how my first visit back to dunkin after a year or so, went. Makes me not want to come back.
