I don’t typically leave reviews, but my recent experience at Certified Burger & Beverage was frustrating enough to warrant one.
I placed an online order for a family of five and was given a specific pickup time. I arrived on time, only to wait an additional 20+ minutes while I watched what appeared to be my order being bagged at the counter. It then sat there for another 5–10 minutes before I finally asked about it. The food expediter confirmed it was my order—but said it wasn’t complete.
After pressing further, I was told it was missing just one item. Meanwhile, the rest of the food—already bagged—was getting cold right in front of me.
I then spoke with the bartender, who was handling takeout orders and appeared to be acting as a manager. Instead of any acknowledgment or apology, I was repeatedly told they were “very busy” and “doing their best.” The restaurant was maybe two-thirds full inside, and outdoor seating wasn’t even open due to the weather—so that explanation felt more like a convenient excuse than reality.
To be clear, my issue wasn’t the initial delay. Delays happen. The issue was that 90% of my order was prepared and left to get cold while waiting on a single missing item—with no effort to prioritize it, no offer to release the completed portion, and no attempt to make it right.
After I expressed my frustration, I was told there was nothing that could be done, but the bartender would call the general manager. She made a call in front of me and then offered to remake the entire order—essentially asking me to wait even longer. At that point, I took the food as-is because I had already waited far too long and had a family at home waiting.
Later that evening, I called the restaurant and asked for the general manager’s contact information so I could discuss the situation directly. I was told that was against policy, and instead they would pass along my name and number for a callback the next day. Two days later, I’m still waiting.
What stands out most is the complete lack of accountability—no apology, just excuses at every step. The follow-up (or lack thereof) only reinforces the impression that customer concerns simply aren’t a priority.
To top it off, the food itself was average at best—certainly not worth the extended wait or the attitude I received.
There are plenty of great restaurants on St. Simons Island. I would strongly recommend spending your time and money at one of them instead.
