Fine/casual dinning,When we arrived Saturday around 7:20 pm. The host outside was promt and polite. Didn't get her name, blonde ponytail parted down the middle. Lobster&shrimp bisque was very good after adding a little salt&pepper. The blue crab dip was a hit with everyone at the table. The lobster&shrimp roll was not for me or my sister it was bland. We got a side of fried shrimp to go with the soup we had. Tasty and very hot heat wise shrimp but the batter kept falling off. Sweet tea was good, the georgia peach margarita was good for 2 of us at the table , and a no for 1 of us. At the table. My husband and brother enjoyed the catfish over like a gumbo rue and cornbread. It
smells a little damp musky when you 1st walk in perhaps the carpet area should be shampoo or replace. The staff I encountered was friendly and smiled. Our server was Carli pleasant.

This place was honestly awful I do not write reviews unless it's just that bad. They served canned green beans with a filet mignon that was very clearly not a filet mignon. The blackened flounder over spinach and mushroom risotto tasted liked rice with cream of mushroom soup and honestly there was one piece of spinach. The restaurant was dead silent except for by the bar.
Also. My boy friend and I both got extremely ill just hours after. I attached a picture of my grey flounder
Carli was great the restaurant sucks.

The great service is the only reason I’m giving even two stars, our server was attentive and very nice. The food and drinks, absolutely unacceptable. My old fashioned looked like a Long Island, the Georgia peach is just sugar concentrate syrup. My over cooked shrimp and fake scallop pasta was horrible, I honestly can’t believe they served this. Those scallops are some kind of imitation, they are perfectly circle and the texture was off even over cooked I could tell. My wife’s steak was fine, kids burger was fine, the chicken Alfredo comes with 98% pasta, 2% chicken.

I nrought my two friends for dinner total of 3 of us we researched where to get the best flounder sandwich upon arrival our server Josh was absolutely fantastic he recommended dishes making my mouth water however my two friends were dead set on the flounder sandwich when we were informed we could only order the dinner flounder we kindly said we were just going to find somewhere else that served that dish .... Josh promptly said he would ask the kitchen and manager if there is anything they could do ... The manager Will came out extremely rude saying he was low on flounder inventory and only wanted to serve us the expensive dish he was extremely abrasive and took over the table to our dismay ... We were so happy with Josh that's the only reason we stayed that managed Will made us feel discriminated against being 3 black females couldn't order a dish on the menu only the higher priced item seemed extremely discriminatory if Josh hadn't been there I'd be calling a lawyer today about this place ... Don't eat here unless you have a good server like Josh

River House was definitely an unexpected surprise. It was midday on a Saturday (4/4/26), there was no wait, and we were seated right away.
Since the restaurant wasn't too crowded the hostess seated us in a semi-private dining area overlooking the river. It also was a bit quieter in that seating area as well since it wasn't exposed to most of the noise from the passersby walking along the river. The white table cloths gave the seating a classy touch but not too stuffy.
Our server Joshua came to greet us shortly after and he was fantastic. He was quick to offer recommendations, full of knowledge about the Savannah area, and so accommodating.
Per Joshua's recommendation my husband ordered a peach margarita and the grouper Oscar dish which was served with mashed potatoes and asparagus and topped with a bearnaise sauce. He devoured every last bite and sip!
I ordered the Southern fried chicken plate with haricot vert and Mac and cheese. It was supposed to come with collard greens but they are cooked with pork, so I subbed with the haricot vert. They were delicious. The chicken was a perfectly seasoned boneless chicken breast. It's a big portion but it was seasoned so well I couldn't stop eating it.
The Mac and cheese was the only disappointment. It was pretty much laughable compared to the quality and caliber of everything else we ate. It was a one dimensional watery mess. Joshua was super apologetic and offered to swap it out for something else but I had so much food on my plate I was almost glad that I didn't get to eat the Mac and cheese or else I would have been stuffed to capacity 😂
I would definitely come back to River House for that fried chicken breast alone! Also, every restaurant needs a Joshua to enhance their dining experience! Keep up the great work River House and work on that Mac and cheese!
