We were visiting Savannah this week and had the best experience at the Riverhouse because of our server, JR. He was so personable, attentive and knowledgeable! We chose to come back another night because of him. The food was delicious and the restaurant was charming. I definitely recommend and ask for JR.

Dec. 30, 2025 about 3:00 pm. Tried to get 2 seats at the bar. A gentleman offered to stand, but I told him it wasn’t necessary. Manager, didn’t get his name, came up to me and sat us down at a hightop while I waited for my husband. Keep in mind, he had a togo beer in his hand, plus recuperating from a recent knee replacement so not as steady as usual. I noticed the table was slanted and made a comment. (We are commercial builders) the manager, short, wearing glasses, told us we had to eat something first before we had a drink. I asked him if he was calling me drunk? He said I was slurring my words. I said I’ve had one cocktail. Albeit, I was awfully cold. He said he’s protecting his employees, where now my husband responded that we were business owners and didn’t understand what he’s implying. I got up, zipped up my jacket and started walking out. Husband remained talking with him. A table 2 down from us asked why we were being hassled. We left and they missed out on at least a $150 table and a very good tip. Oh well. Will never go back.

We went here for dinner tonight, and I’m sorry to say that we were quite disappointed. We sat at the bar as there was a 45 minute wait. The bisque had bits of shell in it, and the bread was $10 for a very small loaf, which we only had 1/2 a piece of because it tasted frozen. I ordered fried shrimp, and the French fries that came with it were not even warm. The shrimp themselves had a very bad taste, as if the oil they were fried in had not been changed in about a week. Would not recommend this place at all. Waiters seemed distracted and not very attentive.

We had a 7pm reservation and was texted that our table was ready. When we arrived, a party of 5 walked up ahead of us and asked for a table, followed another couple who walked in and both parties were seated before us. Another person checked on us before we were finally seated. Our server was Clint and he was absolutely amazing. Everything he suggested was great except for the NY strip. The steak was supposed to be medium well and was served to us rare. Clint handled the matter quickly and brought us back the same steak, but cooked. For $40, I believe we should have been given a new steak cooked the way it was supposed to be cooked, more than 3 stalks of asparagus, and one small scoop of mashed potatoes. The steak completely lost its original seasoning, and was brought back on a plane plate, despite the fact that we were still eating our sides. Very disappointed. The shrimp and scallop pasta was delicious and the peach cobbler and GA peach margarita is top-notch. For what we paid, I expected better treatment and food quality.

Atmosphere was amazing! Food was okay, the burgers have sweet bread which threw it off alot. But the service was what Im most upset about. We had an older lady with white hair serve us, didnt ask us for drink orders, didnt conversate or grab us refills. I had to ask the host where our server was to put our orders in and even then no drinks were asked for. Even when 1 drink was put in it was forgot about. Brought out and charged us for an extra kids burger as well, as two of our kids had previously ate. Bartender requested 2 elders for their id only to bring out 1 drink. Sort of a disaster. I believe this restaurant would be amazing if servers were trained on how to interact with customers. She even recieved auto grat (20% + what we left on top) so as a server im not understanding why the service was so bad.
