I’m imagining that he is a high school junior, drives a truck and wears plaid or camo. Let’s call him Dakota. I’d like to write directly to him at this point: D, the only way I can, with a clear conscience, recommend you taking Ashley to Dunkin’ is if you don’t make a big thing of it. If you pick her up from her house before school, hit the drive thru on your way, pay for everything without flenching, then I think it’ll be fine. You may even be able to build toward taking her on a proper date (chilis, Olive Garden, etc). But under no circumstances should you take her here after school. No way. Strictly AM. Before 8am, ideally. That’s my advice. But Dakota, we’re obviously different people. But I’m rooting for you. (Apple fritters).
