Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
Customers frequently reported long wait times in the drive-thru and for food orders, often exceeding 15 minutes.

If this isnt the worst restaurant ever!! I came this morning to get breakfast. NO one is in line and the workers are all standing together talking. I order my food and then they ask me to pull up and wait for my food. I AM the only one in line! Then I get home and my order is wrong. New employees need to be hired at this location.

I do not understand why people cant pull up to see the menu. I had never been to whataburger. I wanted to see the entire menu. I was told I could see a smaller menu the wait line attendant had. I asked if everything from the main menu was on it and was told no. I was then told I could pull up to a certain line and try to read the main menu from that. I cant pull all the way up to the line because it messes with there system. I asked about buffalo ranch sauce that was advertised. She said they didn't have that but then we could order a ranch and buffalo and mix it on our own. We wont be back.

Waited at least 15 minutes in the drive-through for a burger by itself and ice water, and only two cars in front of me. No explanation and no apology which is fine, but this location certainly needs to step it up and at least keep customers notified during long waits. I will admit the staff was friendly so ill definitely give this location another run one day soon!

I stopped by Whataburger tonight around 8:30 with my kids after a long day. Chick-fil-A down the street had a long line, so I decided to give Whataburger a try since there was no one in the drive through. Unfortunately, I quickly remembered why that might be the case.
I ordered one large fry and one medium fry. Our cashier, Cheyanne J (according to our receipt) was friendly, polite, and clearly trying her best — she was the highlight of the visit. However, she appeared to be working without much support or guidance.
While Cheyanne handled both the register and drink station, another employee leaned on the counter behind the dining room registers doing nothing. No supervisor seemed to be present or engaged and no other employees were present. The drive-through wasn’t busy at all when I arrived, yet it took nearly 10 minutes to receive just two fries.
After waiting five minutes to even pay, I was asked to pull up so the cars behind me could move forward. When I asked if the fries were being dropped fresh, I was told they were just now dropping them — a surprising delay given how slow things were.
The issue isn’t with Cheyanne J — she was kind and doing what she could — but rather with the lack of leadership, urgency, and training. No one seemed to take ownership of the customer experience or uphold the Whataburger standard.
It’s disappointing, because the contrast between Whataburger and Chick-fil-A, less than half a mile away, is very noticeable. There, managers are always visible, the staff is organized, and guests feel valued. Here, I left feeling frustrated and let down.
Whataburger has great food and potential, but it needs engaged leaders and better-trained staff if it wants to earn repeat customers. I truly hope to see improvement, because experiences like this are what drive people elsewhere and what normally keeps me away from this location.
