- PMPranathi MarangantiDec 14, 20251.0I am writing to report an incident that occurred during my recent visit to one of your Chipotle locations in Marietta, GA. While an employee was preparing my burrito, she dragged part of my food off the tortilla and onto the exposed metal countertop while trying to assemble it. This is a fast-food prep counter and, regardless of cleaning procedures, food being dragged across it is not acceptable from a food safety or hygiene standpoint. I immediately addressed it and calmly said that I would not be eating the burrito after it had been dragged onto the counter, and asked if it could please be remade. The employee laughed awkwardly, acknowledged what happened, and stepped aside. A manager then came over and instead of remaking the burrito, he dumped the contaminated contents into a new tortilla and attempted to wrap it. I clearly stated again that I was not comfortable eating that and asked for a proper remake. He refused, and I told him I no longer wanted the order. His response was, “That’s just wasted product,” after which he threw it in the trash and said, “Have a good day,” in a dismissive manner. To make matters worse, the cashier attempted to invalidate my concern by saying, “We clean the counter, it’s pretty clean,” to which I replied that even they likely wouldn’t eat food that had been dragged across a countertop. At that point, I left. I did not raise my voice or behave disrespectfully. I simply expected basic food safety standards and professional handling of a reasonable request. The situation left me feeling dismissed and uncomfortable, and it reflected poorly on both customer service and management of Chipotle. I am sharing this so it can be addressed appropriately. I would appreciate follow-up regarding food handling expectations, employee training, and how situations like this should be handled in the future. Best, Sahitya Maranganti
