I haven’t been able to spend the holiday with my family for the past few years due to several hardships, so something as simple as getting a coffee should not have added stress to my day. Unfortunately, the service I received was extremely disappointing. The young man taking my order acted as if he didn’t want to assist me, speaking very slowly and with an attitude that made the entire interaction uncomfortable. When I arrived at the window, the young woman handed me a receipt that she had already crumpled up and tried to throw away. Instead of printing a new receipt or offering a clean one, she picked up the balled-up paper and attempted to give it to me, which was both unprofessional and unsanitary. What made this even more disheartening is that we are all minorities trying to navigate the same pressures, stresses, and challenges in this country. With everything people are going through — especially during the holidays — it was nerve-wracking and honestly heartbreaking to be treated this way by individuals who should understand the importance of kindness and respect. I truly hope management addresses this behavior immediately. No customer should ever be made to feel dismissed or disrespected, especially during a time when so many are already experiencing personal stress.
