We went to big Bear for our anniversary, and everything was delicious. The service was fast and the servers were very attentive. We will 100% be returning to eat here again. I had the apple jam burger, which was very good, And my wife had the jambalaya which she loved it! If you’re looking for a local restaurant to check out, this is definitely it!

We tried eating here at 7:30 p.m. on April 9th, 2026. According to Google, the restaurant is open until 9 p.m. on Thursday nights. The same hours are listed on their sandwich board outside (see picture). So you can imagine our surprise when the host, Temu Judd Nelson, told us the kitchen closed in 30 minutes and he’d have to ask the kitchen if we could eat. The host huffed and threw his hair back in visible frustration. He then explained the kitchen was “in the weeds”. Thus, seeing only one occupied table in the entire restaurant was confusing. When I mentioned the hours are listed outside as being open until 9 p.m. he claimed the sandwich board hadn’t been updated yet. Apparently Google hasn’t been updated yet either. Although, technically I’m happy to advise against your going here. Unless you bring a weed eater, a Time Machine, and a dry chalk eraser, you probably should pass.

We are here for a family trip with our kids choose this place for dinner tonight for our first stop. And it was all over a terrible experience. Server was very nice and not his fault at all.. but for starters the margarita was awful tasted like straight sour mix. Everything my husband tried to order they said they were out of. He ended up choosing his third choice, salmon and they only had mashed no roasted potatoes. The portion was very small for $25. My daughter got a cesar salad and they brought it and said they didn't have croutons. That was her meal.. just lettuce and dressing. We definitely won't be back.

TLDR: Very good food at prices that were not unreasonable. This was our first visit and we dropped in for a weekday lunch, shortly after they opened for the day – so the restaurant was still mostly empty. We were greeted promptly and seated at a table in the front corner, near the window, which we considered to be ideal since it gives us chance to look around while we chat before the meals arrive. The menu had a few apps, a half-dozen or so burgers and sandwiches, and 8-10 entrees – along with a nice selection of sides, some soups and salads and a fairly typical selection for kids. The menu was not extensive but did offer a nice variety in each category. There were at least a half-dozen possibilities that I found appealing. Everything seemed just a little bit pricey to me, but certainly not unreasonable for a place like this. Prices were $12 to $19 for the burger/sandwich items. The entrees ranged from $14 for the Chicken Finger Platter to $26 for the Parmesan Crusted Salmon. We did not have drinks, but from a distance the bar seemed well-stocked. Our order was taken promptly, and I chose the Rueben sandwich ($15) – which is a favorite for me – and opted to replace the usual fries with onion rings for a small upcharge. My companion ordered the Chicken Parm ($20). The country music was a little too loud for comfort. The restaurant was still mostly empty – which probably contributed to the impression of ‘too loud’. When we mentioned it the young lady said that it was probably still on the settings from the previous evening, and changed it to a different sound track and eased off the volume – which we appreciated. When the food arrived the onion rings were a nice portion, but had been allowed to sit a little too long before being served. Still warm, but definitely not hot. Happily, their taste and texture were great, overshadowing the apparent delay getting them from fryer to table. The sandwich was a good size, and may well have been the best Rueben I’ve ever eaten! The marbled rye tasted like it had been toasted on the grill with butter (perfect!) and the sauerkraut had a nice tang – but wasn’t so sharp as to overwhelm the rest of the sandwich. All in all, a very satisfactory and satisfying lunch. The Chicken Parm was a very generous portion for both the chicken breast and the pasta. I jokingly said that it looked like it could feed a family of four – and as it turned out the part she took home became two more servings. The fried chicken breast was topped with a tasty marinara, and served atop the pasta – which was covered with a creamy parmesan sauce. She definitely enjoyed it, and commented that the white sauce reminded her of a good alfredo. The menu said the pasta would be penne, but her dish arrived with linguine. The chef stopped by our table to apologize for serving linguine because they were out of penne – at that point we hadn’t even noticed – and I have to say I think linguine is probably a better choice for this meal anyway! Overall, a nice experience, and we’re looking forward to visiting again.
