We went to Desi Tadka foe their lunch buffet. We called before going in, to ask if we could just walk in or if we needed to make a reservation and the lady on the phone said there was no need for a reservation and that we could just walk in and then we had wait 45 minutes before we could get in! The food was okay, but their staff were very rude. There was one particular guy who was really rude. We were waiting on a line and this guy very rudely said “why are you standing here” when we replied this is a line, he said “No there isn’t” (there clearly was, there was three other people in front of us) and even if there wasn’t a line, he could have just asked us nicely to move? The bill was $45 for the two of us. Food was good so no complaints there. Their Veg Momo, chicken Biriyani, tikka masala and garlic naan was good.

I visited this restaurant about two weeks ago and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. The chapati and samosa tasted like they were frozen or store-bought rather than freshly prepared, and the curry was overly watery with very little flavor or proper texture. What stood out even more was the service. They came to us after 20min we were waiting for the server. The front staff behaved cheap unprofessionally, and the servers seemed to lack even basic knowledge about the menu and drinks, which made the experience frustrating. At this point, the quality felt closer to a roadside dhaba than a proper restaurant. What’s surprising is that I had visited the same place about two months ago, and the experience was noticeably better—both the food quality and staff behavior were good back then. This recent visit felt like a clear decline. They have shown they can do better, but right now there’s a significant gap in both food quality and service consistency. I hope they address this soon.

What a lovely restaurant! I was here for my 10 year college reunion and we used to eat in this area and shop at Patel Brothers all the time. The buffet we used to go to is gone, but I was surprised to see such a nice place like this here. Beautifully decorated, a great drink menu, and the malai kofta was creamy and delish! The service though was above and beyond. I’m usually very good with spice (Sichuanese), but was surprised by the little bit of bite in my mild dish and choked on my soda. One of the employees was so sweet, bringing me yoghurt, tamarind sauce, water, and offering to remake the dish! He even brought me extra rice to take to go with my leftovers, and to give me sofa to go. Extremely nice! My ancestors would be ashamed of me though, so be warned they are serious about their spice levels :)

Food portions are generous and the ambiance is great. If you’re into spicy food the spice levels were pretty weak so it won’t give any tingling or burning. Butter curry was more on the spice side than sweet side from many other places I’m more familiar with which was a nice variety. Everything was very flavorful, and I’d be curious to try a few more things on the menu. The music doesn’t always fit the scene if you’re paying attention. We came at a busy time so and people who came after us were served first, but staff was friendly and responsive. Overall nice experience and clean area.

Extremely disappointed with our experience today. The food quality was far below expectations. The veg fried rice was excessively oily and instead of balanced, natural flavors, it was overloaded with pepper and grease. The same issue continued with the kadai paneer curry—too much oil and overpowering spice, making it almost inedible. What made this visit even worse was a serious mistake with our order. My friends who joined us are pure vegetarians, but shockingly, their kadai paneer contained meat. This is completely unacceptable and shows a lack of basic care and attention in the kitchen. Overall, a very unpleasant and disappointing experience. Definitely not returning and would not recommend to anyone, especially vegetarians.
