In town for the weekend and wanted to try a local place to eat searchers and saw sweet potato waffles with jerk chicken meal and immediately knew this was the place to try. Made a reservation online and upon arrival was seated immediately. This place is tiny but they have maximum use of the space. Parking is difficult but don’t let that stop you. This is a must try for all foodies. The grits might have been the best I’ve ever had and my husband also enjoyed the salmon egg rolls. I must say from service to food this is 10/10 thank you Helen for the excellent service and your welcoming vibes!

The food, drinks and ambiance weren’t good enough to excuse extreme operational mismanagement.
Waiting 2 hours to be seated when you have an existing reservation is wild. Waiting 20 more minutes to put in your order, receiving appetizers without plates because there aren’t enough clean ones, having guests who need to cancel their orders because things are taking too long, and waiting another 35 - 40 minutes for the food is unacceptable.
Dining experiences like this take away from the moment. Quality time with friends and loved ones gets overshadowed by stress and frustration. Conversations shift to whether or not the meal was worth the wait. In this case, it wasn’t.
The food was good and our server, Gabby, tried her best to “turn lemons into lemonade.”Bottom line - this place should have more respect for their customers’ time.

04/19/26 - Sunday brunch. I parked across the street in the beauty salon parking lot ($15.55 for 2 hours). There was an attendant helping and reminding you to pay with the app. The outdoor hostess gave me the option to sit at the bar, downstairs. I took it!
Niecy was tge bar attendant and she was GREAT. She explained the menu items I had questions about. I wanted a hot chai but got a hot chocolate, no worries it was FABULOUS! My food took over 45 minutes but after Niecy made some noise, it magically appeared. Hi-Five! The catfish, shrimp, and grits was delicious. If I make it back, I'll ask for extra spinach.
Niecy was GREAT for me and the two ladies who, eventually, sat next to me.

While the food was good, the experience was HORRIBLE!! We had a booked reservation for 12 at 10:30a and waited for well over an hour to be seated (at 12:05p) with my 89 year old father, whose birthday we were celebrating. After being seated we waited another hour before the food came and one of our party actually had to leave. So a total of 2.5 hours from the time we arrived to food actually coming to the table. This is absolutely unacceptable and egregious - there is NO EXCUSE. While the food was good, we will probably never come back and unfortunately I can't in good conscience recommend it to anyone because of the experience.

When my friend recommended Breakfast Boys I didn't know what I was getting myself into! We all understand the reputation of many of our businesses, but this experience was top of the line.
We made a reservation a month ahead for a 9 am table of 4. The host sat us immediately and the waitress did a marvelous job explaining the menu, offering her favorites and staying professional. I quickly realized that she had either been a waitress for quite some time or the management team is doing their job training their waitresses properly. She treated waitressing as a true profession. If they chose to syndicate to another city (like Houston *wink wink*) and chose her to train the masses, I wouldn't be surprised.
From a business perspective, they're keeping the QUALITY of the business protected from the seamless systems to the colonial curb appeal. I trusted this business upon approach but what I didn't know is how perfect the catfish would be. The crunch was superb. We're talking the type of crust that'll force you to finish JUST so you can enjoy it at the plated temperature. I paired it with the vegan egg and a sangria because my diet that day was free of dairy and gluten but I watched as the rest of my party inhaled the chicken with pancakes and steak with eggs. It was my first vegan egg and I've gotta say, it doesn't beat the real thing. There's a bit of a soy aftertaste. However, if you try it in conjunction with another item, you can't tell the difference.
I left with a hummingbird cake (clearly not dairy or gluten free) that was incredibly moist. It did remind me of a carrot cake, but it's worth the taste. Next time, I can't play myself and show up with dietary restrictions. I'll know for next time and hopefully, that'll be in Houston.
