To start on the positive, the food was above average. I had the smash burger and it was delicious, as were the fries. The atmosphere is very cold, despite the colored panels. It's a big cold warehouse space. The service was terrible. We were seated quickly and then waited a long time for someone to take our order. My daughter requested a burrito with no beans. After waiting a long time for our food, my wife's and my food came out, but no burrito and no explanation. 5 minutes later, the burrito arrives, not only full of beans, but with an extra side of beans. We sent it back and they magically produced the correct order in a few minutes. My wife ordered the steak and eggs, it did not come with a steak knife, so I flagged down someone to bring us knife and salt and pepper. There was no seasoning on the home fries at all. The knife appeared, but I finally had to ask the bartender for salt and pepper. No one ever checked on us and we had to get up and find someone to ask for everything. It was not crowded, so I don't know what the issue was. The food was good, but not worth what they are charging, especially with that kind of service. There are plenty of other options for food in Clayton. I hope they get a better system.

If you’ve ever been to Hush Cuban Cafe, then you already know the level of food we’re dealing with. So when I heard they opened Frida Taqueria & Cantina in Clayton, I had to check it out...and it absolutely delivered. First thing you’ll notice is this isn’t your typical Mexican restaurant. The menu is fresh, creative, and just a little different in a really good way. I started with the chips and salsa, and right away you can tell they’re doing things differently. The chips are thicker, super crispy, and they come with a fresh salsa verde instead of the usual red. Paired that with a Coke Zero and I was already off to a strong start. Tried the Mexican hush puppies (which I’ve never had before), and honestly… you need to order these. Crispy on the outside, soft inside, and that sauce they come with takes them to another level. The flautas were one of the most flavorful dishes I had... crispy, well seasoned, and just packed with flavor. The barbacoa tacos come four to an order, loaded with meat, and served on double tortillas with all the right toppings. Very filling and very well done. But the standout for me was the cheesy shell carnitas tacos (Gringa tacos). The tortilla is cooked with cheese, so you get this crispy, cheesy outer layer with super tender carnitas inside. Easily my favorite bite of the day. I also tried the steak quesadilla (ribeye), and it was exactly what you want... perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and loaded with that melty cheese (tastes like Oaxaca or Chihuahua style). Really solid. Service was excellent... shoutout to Gabriel. He walked me through the menu, made great recommendations, and genuinely made the experience better. The space itself is clean, modern, and spacious, with a bar area and outdoor patio seating available. Only thing to note is parking can be a little tight up front, especially when it’s busy, but there’s additional parking around the building if you look for it. Overall, this is a great addition to Clayton and definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Wonderful food, so fresh! They have a patio that is dog friendly and right next to the Clayton Currahee Brewing location, which (while I’m not a big beer drinker), but their brews are very popular locally and we love the location in Franklin. I could see this being a great partnership for both, grab a drink and then pop over next door or grab an order for take out. Only downside is that it is a bit loud outside with the road leading to downtown Clayton. Crank up the tunes, keep your the great food, service, and this spot is going to kill it this summer.

This is a very special Mexican restaurant. More authentic than anywhere I’ve eaten Mexican food in years. The sauces/salsas are to die for. Every dish is well thought out with a perfect balance of flavors. The staff is great. Friendly and efficient. Happy to help you decide what to eat and/or drink. The atmosphere is just right as well. Frida is the name, and they embrace the Friday Kahlo artistic expression in the decor as well as food and service. Well done! See y’all soon! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Four of us tried this place since it had such good reviews. We were terribly disappointed. We walked in and we were met at host stand by a guy who was rude and in a mood. We were seated and lucky us he was our server. When he finally came to check on us a pitcher of margaritas was ordered, Texas style. Granted we should’ve asked beforehand but a small pitcher was $50 and then tried to charge another $20 on top to make it a Texas style margarita. The food was subpar at best and the portion size was comical. The service was absolutely awful. It was yet another ordeal to get the check, then question the upcharge, which they did fix. I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone. We won’t be back.
