Celebrated our 22nd anniversary here. Let me tell you the food, atmosphere were outstanding but what made it five stars was the customer service. Five stars!! JK was our waiter. Shout out to the kitchen staff also. Thank you for making this day special.

My sister and I dined at Bonefish Grill on Sunday evening and unfortunately the experience left me very disappointed. From the moment we walked in, the service felt inattentive. The host had his back turned while engaged in a personal conversation and it took a noticeable amount of time before we were acknowledged. When he did seat us, he overshared details about his weekend and drinking, which felt unprofessional and unnecessary. Our server Blake was polite, although service overall felt a bit slow. The main issue during our visit was the bar atmosphere. The bartender Rachel was extremely loud throughout most of our dinner, speaking across the bar about very personal matters including her relationship and breakup. The restaurant was not crowded, so her voice carried across the dining room and made it difficult to enjoy a quiet meal as we were seated in the area but definitely not near the bar. I couldn’t even hear the tables next to me as clearly as I could hear Rachel. Her profanity was disturbing. In addition, there were several concerns that made the experience uncomfortable. There was frequent coughing and spitting into a trash can behind the bar while drinks were being prepared. One of our wines had to be remade after our server noticed a hair in the glass. The drink had already been sitting at the bar for several minutes before being brought over. Observing this raised concerns about cleanliness and attention to detail. Hair was not fully restrained behind the bar, which may have contributed to the issue. After Rachel’s guest left, the restaurant finally became calm and quiet, but by then much of the evening had already been disrupted. Our total came to about 140 dollars, and for that price we expected a more comfortable and professional dining environment. We visit Bonefish Grill often for dine in, takeout, and happy hour, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. I hope this feedback helps improve attentiveness, professionalism, and overall guest experience moving forward.

My mom and sister went to Bonefish Grill in Buford last Thursday—not for the first time, not even close. This is a restaurant my sister frequents regularly and one we’ve visited dozens of times over the years. Because of that history, we expected a normal, pleasant dinner. What we experienced instead was shocking. From the moment they were seated, the assigned waitress did not acknowledge them—not once. No greeting, no “I’ll be right with you,” nothing. They even tried making eye contact, flagging her down, even sitting patiently while she served surrounding tables. After over 20 minutes with zero service ,they had to physically get up from our table to find the hostess and explain that no one had helped. Only then did they receive beverages and have their order taken—and not by the assigned waitress, but by the hostess. Eventually, a new waitress was assigned to their table because the original one was suddenly “unable” to attend. No explanation was given for why she ignored them entirely in the first place. It’s also important to mention that they were the only people of color in the restaurant, staff included except for one waitress who was not assigned to them. I don’t jump to conclusions lightly, being repeatedly ignored while every other table is actively served is hard to dismiss. At best, it was careless. At worst, it felt like a microaggression they were expected to quietly accept. The frustration didn’t stop there. The next day, we called to speak with the manager—not to demand anything, but to explain what happened. Instead of listening or offering an apology, the manager chose to argue with us. He claimed no one on staff remembered us and suggested that if we wanted to escalate the issue, he would have to escalate it to the general manager. Midway through the argument, his story changed—suddenly he did remember them and recalled bringing takeout boxes to our table. If that’s the case, it raises an obvious question: if you recognized they were having a rough experience that night, why not introduce yourself as the manager, acknowledge the multiple staff changes, and apologize in real time? That moment never happened. Bad service happens. We’ve eaten at Bonefish many times before—this location and others—and when issues are acknowledged and handled with professionalism, it’s not a problem. What is a problem is being ignored, dismissed, and then debated when calmly sharing a firsthand experience. My sister on the phone was polite, but the level of defensiveness and refusal to take accountability is exactly why the conversation ended. At some point, you stop explaining yourself when it’s clear no one is listening. This experience was disappointing not only because of the service, but because of how it was handled afterward. Loyal customers should not have to argue to be acknowledged. Hopefully the general manager sees this, since that appears to be the only route to any kind of reconciliation. Until then, consider this fair warning: past good experiences don’t guarantee future ones here
