This was the second most expensive breakfast I have ever paid for, and the second to the worst breakfast experience I have ever had. My husband and I went for sunday brunch on Dec 21st. We were asked if we had reservations and we did not. The hostess found us a table right away. We could not hear what our server was saying. He spoke so softly I never heard one word he was speaking. My husband had an ear infection and asked him to please speak up...he didnt. Luckily he was able to take our orders. While waiting on our food, I noticed several things. The floor was filthy. It should not have looked like this at 11am. The music was a bit too loud. Kept hearing the kitchen calling out pick up signals. And all the waitstaff were in t-shirts. Now, looking at the menu, and the menu prices, this would seem like an upscale eating establishment. It was not. They are trying to be something they are not. The "chef" was highly praised on the menu and left a note about how nothing on the menu can be changed. Sounded very firm about this decision to keep the customer from bothering him with requests. The drink i ordered was excellent. That was the only positive. My husband got no sugar with his coffee. No spoon either. When the food came it was a travesty. The sausage was the same cheap patties they serve at mcdonalds. The bacon was scrunched up and burnt. I ordered the avocado toast. It was covered in everything bagel seasoning ( which was not noted on the menu), was burnt as well, and the avocado was more brown than green. The sunny side up egg had grease splatter all around it. Any real chef would know to wipe this off before it left the kitchen. I was a chef for several years and know better than to serve someone something like this. I could not force myself to eat more than a few bites. The bill was 80.00$ This was not worth that. I found it unprofessional and very disappointing. I suggest they pay attention to presentation, invest in quality products/food, get some uniforms for the waitstaff and train them, and make sure the place is clean when you open. Hopefully this review will help make a difference and/or prevent someone from making the same mistake i did by going there.

Unfortunately I had a little bit of an odd experience here. The pancake platter is $22. And while the pancakes themselves were good, I'm not really sure why it's so high. So on top of the $22, you are then paying $4.50 for a drink such as soda that comes out of the machine completely flat. My only big gripe is that for $22, the eggs at least should be real freshly cracked eggs. Not carton eggs. That waitress asked if I wanted cheese on my eggs but did not mention an upcharge. So when I got my bill, I was shocked for a $2 upcharge on eggs I didn't even eat bc they were cheap carton eggs. I could've gone to waffle house and gotten real eggs.... So for just me, it was $33... Mind you, they also charge a small fee for using a card instead of cash too. $22 pancake platter $4.50 drink $2 charge for cheese And then a charge to use a card. I really do try to support small businesses and I understand they have to charge more for these things bc they aren't corporate or anything... But... Even in California I've paid less for a breakfast at a small owned business. You can't actually see the menu on their website either, it's tiny and too blurry to read. So if I had known sooner, I probably wouldn't have come. Keep in mind, there is also no substitutions allowed and everything is "final sale" which is kind of not keeping a customer in mind.

Very disappointing experience. We came specifically for the unlimited mimosas advertised on the menu, only to be told they no longer offer them. Based on other reviews, this has been the case for months, yet the menus haven’t been updated. Advertising something that is no longer available is misleading. Almost all mimosa options were frozen, and the only non-frozen choice was the party table mimosa—also the most expensive option. The food was just okay. What stood out negatively was the menu verbiage stating that “you cannot modify a chef’s plate or design” and stating that modifications are only for chain restaurants. As a result I couldn’t order anything without peppers. To top it off, our pancakes came out raw. The women’s bathroom was in rough shape—the stall door doesn’t shut or lock properly and barely opens, making it very uncomfortable to use. Our server was kind and communicative, but overall I would not recommend this restaurant and won’t be returning.

I want to start by saying I do appreciate an upscale dining experience with imaginative & creative flavors, well plated with a visually striking appearance. This restaurant attempts to provide this type of experience, but it fails to deliver. Upon arriving we were given hand sanitizer before being seated at a high top table, pushed against the bar. Seating was tight/cramped- I kept bumping into the customer behind me, but she was gracious & understanding about it. The table was fitted with white paper which is widely acceptable, but I was highly irritated with the tri-fold paper napkins that we were given to use, & which was also what our silverware was wrapped in. We ordered a Mimosa tower, but were surprised to learn their Mimosas are served frozen, a wine slushie if you will. When we questioned the waitress she replied, "His thing is that he always wants his customers to be drinking something." My sister & I go ahead & order appetizers of tempura shrimp & kale & spinach dip. The shrimp was tasty & the tempura was light & crispy & very nicely plated. My sister stated that the dip had a great taste, but that it contained large pieces of kale that were difficult to chew & required cutting in order to eat. The breakfast/brunch menu offered a lot of options, however as someone who is lactose intolerant, many of the offerings contained ingredients I did not feel comfortable eating. Even upon informing the wait staff of my food allergies, & questioning my options, she stated "No he's not going to change the way he cooks it. He's going to tell you to order something else." I finally decided on the salmon cakes with the grit bowl & potatoes. Upon tasting, the salmon cakes were "wet" & the texture was not very pleasant to eat. The Grits also appeared that they had been burned, but layered with butter throughout to mask the flavor. So every spoonful I tried to eat, was an overwhelming taste of butter. The only thing I truly enjoyed were the potatoes. When the waitstaff came back to check on us & we declined a togo box, we explained the concernes we had with the food. The manager then came over & proceeded to tell us that the preparation of the food "is not how your Mama cooks. I try to tell people this is something different." Despite the lack of knowledge of the menu by the waitstaff & the excuses we were given ("Oh, I'm a picky eater. I don't eat the stuff he cooks, so I don't know.") Ultimately they were understanding & did not charge us for the food we did not eat. Outside of the food, the building leaves a lot to be desired. The restaurant is small & crowded. The bathrooms are across the hall from the kitchen, in which both doors were open so he could be heard when he yells "Chef's plate" to the top of his lungs. We were cautioned repeatedly regarding the women's bathroom door that does not close completely. Also, during our meal, whenever the wait staff came to rinse the dishes at the bar, there was an overwhelming odor of sewage that arose apparently whenever the sink was in use. I had high hopes/expectations based on other reviews, the menu, etc...but I was extremely let down by my first experience at Toaste. It is highly unlikely that I will return to this establishment.

This is my first time visiting Toaste by Dominik Cartrel, as I'm visiting. I love the lions at the entrance of the restaurant. Secondly. I was greeted very warmly by the host, who then proceeded to provide me with hand sanitizer. I was seated immediately. My server, Raven, who is amazing, came and took my drink order. A few minutes later, Raven took my food order. I've been craving pancakes for a few months now, and while during my search, the pancakes for Toaste, had crispy edges. Now, not only did they have crispy edges, they were also very flavorful, without syrup. Along with the pancakes came a berry compote. I would definitely get the pancakes again. I shared my bacon with a sweet young man that came in with his family. I was not a fan of the turkey bacon or the eggs. The atmosphere was very cheery, with Christmas tunes playing in the background. I'm not sure if they are collecting toys for Christmas, however, there are toys in the front of the restaurant, so possibly doing an Angel tree for a family. If you like great pancakes, with or without syrup, give them a try. They have a plethora of items to select from.
