Last night I had the worst customer service experience I have ever had at a Krispy Kreme. We weren't even sure they were open as we approached the store, because all of the outside lights were off and it was very dimly lit inside, so we checked online and it said they were open for over 2 hours more so we decided to stop. Upon entering, there were only 3 donut selections in the case, and glazed was the only option available at menu price. The other two options cost an additional 50¢ upcharge. Disappointing yes, but we were already inside, so we opted for the upcharged (mostly by default) donut variety. I then ordered a hot chocolate, which came to me with the lid falling off or I may not have noticed it was only 2/3 of the way full. I saw a can of whipped cream next to the young man who made my beverage so I asked if I could have some, as the menu board I ordered from had a picture of hot chocolate with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle, neither of which my lack luster cup contained. That was when a person came from behind and said, that whipped cream was an extra charge. Mind you, she wasn't seen until this point, wasn't the person helping us, nor was she addressed in any way that beckoned her response. I stated that there was no upcharge listed on the menu and the photo next to the drink I ordered showed whipped cream. She proceeded to get louder, more rude, and talk over over me, repeating again and again about the upcharge, never even giving the man serving us a chance to speak. It didn't matter what I said or how I tried to get my words out, this very rude, very offensive person, who told me her name was Shamiah or Jahmiah Johnson (not sure of the spelling or even if her name is correct, as I'm just going off of what she told me because she did not have a name tag) just got louder, and clearly had no idea of what customer service consisted of when she was hired, because she completely lacked an semblance of courtesy. Let me just say I feel like paying $3.19 for a cup of hot chocolate is a little excessive, but it makes sense if you get it the way you expect hot chocolate to be served and the way it is advertised. I will say that there was no reasoning with the person, so when I left the store I looked online and, just for the record, there is no upcharge for whipped cream. If you order online you actually have to indicate if you would like it left off, which makes much more sense. The terrible customer service, paired with the dimly lit store, incomplete orders, and the very small selection of donuts available almost three hours prior to close on a weekend can't be very good for business. I just thought that not only should the public know what they are stepping into, but as a business owner I would be extremely disappointed in a staff of multiple people that was producing so little in an economy where fast food workers are asking for $15 an hour and up, and they wonder why they aren't getting it, if you aren't making money for the company for work for why should they pay you to help them lose money? Just a thought. Krispy Kreme, very disappointing, very.
