Had been at a happy hour on the roof (great drinks but no nibbles) and it was gorgeous up there. Wanted to wait for traffic to quiet down, so popped into Tiny Lou’s for a quick bite. The duck fat fries and deviled eggs were fabulous!! Unique was an awesome Server! Highly recommend!

We went here as part of my birthday weekend and the service was nice. The food was presented beautifully and tasted delicious. I had the gnocchi, vrussel sprouts, the bread was so frickin' good with the cultured butter! We had truffle fries, and I enjoyed the sweet potato empenadas with the ice cream. The drinks were great as well! I can't remember the rest of the meal because the drinks were so good! 😉 lol

Tiny Lou's is this quaint Southern home-style restaurant where it is not classical fine dining yet something is special in many ways. If fine dining met a restaurant ran in a Louisiana home... or perhaps the 1920s or 1930s feel... you'd get Tina Lou's. The place is generally dark, almost like a club, but again, it is more of basement living room than a cigar bar. And you have to understand that this place is in the basement/first floor of the Hotel Clermont, which itself is a boutique hotel and a time travel to the 20s. Everything just makes sense as you walk into the building, especially from the hotel lobby. The service is spectacular. Southern comfort is felt. Professionalism is felt. The patrons are not loud. Somehow the place makes you proper and comfortable at the same time. It is an intimate space yet you are not bothered by anyone. Again, you may start imagining a scene of a movie. Now the food. I do not know what cuisine I could say this is. Google Maps says French. It is French / American / Southern, all mixed up in a progressive yet traditional way. Exactly mirroring what the decor and the hotel is going for. Cornbread - the essence of Southern cuisine - has been transformed into a one-of-a-kind madeline, glazed with hot honey and served with tabasco butter. Trust me. The actual flavor profile and mix is heavenly and ingenious. I know that a bit of spice can give cornbread a twist. They do this with the butter and glaze, not putting in some peppers inside. The salad was disingenously simpe and honest. I would've thought they'd try go for a fine dining twist but just leaves, cheese, etc laid on a plate. The only magic was that they created almost a mixed salad dressing of cranberries, pecans, etc that were all crushed up so that the flavor would be spread evenly onto the greens. Essentially, this eliminates the reason to "toss the salad". That was brilliant and worked well. The deviled eggs had vinegared pearls on top which essentially transforms the entire flavor profile. It brings in that initial jolt in your senses but gets mellowed out by the super creamy yolk mix. Again, very honest and straight forward with great ingredients, only with a simple twist. The pumpkin arancini (fried rice balls) was perhaps the most tangential. I'm sure I could get used to the taste but the cinnamon was too strong for the bland rice. Pumpkin and cinnamon go well together but something about the rice was throwing the balance off. I think I know what the chef was going for but it came together bland in a way that throws you off. Chef needs to quickly tweak this. The steak frites... No words needed her. Perfect searing, seasoning, and the foie gras butter almost comes in too strong. It's amazing but perhaps a tad bit too much. I would recommend regular butter and that itself would be heaven. Finally, had this interesting dessert called the Sweetie Pie. This was the most surprising creation and I can see the chef let themself loose here a bit with creativity. Sweet potato puree filled empanadas glazed in syrup.... served with some interesting handmade ice-cream. It was marvelous. My only ask is to make the ice-cream a bit more creamy. There are very few destinations like Tina Lou's throughout the country and throughout the world. It is not perfect. But it is special. It is something that you won't forget for a long time. It is perfect for a date. A day you want to just time travel into the past, dress up and pretend to be proper. It is welcoming, yet formal. It is honest cooking, but not without creativity. And they show it off in such a Southern way... not in your face, but a tease with eyes across the room. Make sure you enter through the hotel lobby to begin your time travel. Spend 5~10 mins there. Then walk down the pink neon stairs. If you are in ATL, Tina Lou's is a must.

Worst experience ever! Went for my daughter’s birthday in October. Ordered roasted cauliflower that came out barely lukewarm. Was offered heat up or re-make. Told it would take a few minutes as 20 minutes went by! Manager came out to apologize and take off the bill but still no entree as my daughter finished hers. In that time two waiters brought food to our table that belonged to other tables! Then the valet was so screwed up that took another 15 minutes! This place needs better management and training all around.

The good: Food was amazing! Crab & Shrimp Louie is a fun lil sharing dish, the crab dip was delicious. Their Brioche bread was soft and tastes like it came right out of the oven. The burger was Dang good! Fun smash patties, really delicious. Little shoestring fries. Now the not so great: Drinks took forever, at least 20 minutes from order and the restaurant was not even 1/3 full. Server warned me some beers on draft weren’t cold… This was odd, so I went with canned beer, which was not too cold either. Maybe they were just having refrigeration issues that day? Food took over an hour to arrive. To top it off server brought a bill that was over 300 bucks. She just input several items twice. Took her two tries to fix it. Grateful I didn’t just hand her my card like I usually do. I’ll be back for the food but definitely going when they are empty, too much waiting :/
