Atmosphere was incredible. Sad to see the food and service didn’t match. The server- won’t mention his name, hardly checked on anything. He only asked if we wanted refills on the drinks; never about the food. The food!!! We had to wait 25+ minutes for garlic aioli for the dry bravas, only supported by the lack there of sauce. Patatos were the best texture but lacked all the dressing to make it shine. Then, we all- three of us, ordered entres and they came out one by one- not mad at that as it’s a tapas centered restaurant. However comma the salmon came out 25 minutes after the chicken and medium rare steak. In addition, check the chicken entre, as there might be butchers twine still on there. I really hoped they would have fixed all their kinks considering this is not my first visit…they could use a few more weeks of trading both front of house and back of house. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.
I had a very positive experience at Boqueria today. A couple of my dishes were initially overcooked, but the situation was handled promptly and with a sincere apology.
I shared a concern with Mahamma, who listened attentively and immediately relayed it to the manager, Victoria, who then came to speak with me directly. The way both of them handled the conversation truly stood out. I felt heard, respected, and valued as a guest. Their professionalism, empathy, and follow-through completely turned the experience around. I appreciate the care they took and would absolutely return.

yet the experience fell notably short of expectations. Service was slow and disorganized, with our table not ready upon arrival. The paella suffered from undercooked rice, indicating a lack of technical precision. While the tapas showed some promise particularly the shrimp and octopus, the rest of the menu lacked balance and execution.
The grilled meats were the most disappointing: incorrect doneness, poor texture, and a clear misunderstanding of proper grilling technique, especially in the mixed grill. Although the restaurant presents an attractive and well-designed space, the cuisine does not match the aesthetic ambition. Overall, the experience reflects style over substance, with significant room for improvement in both kitchen discipline and service standards.

This place is a solid B/B-. The waiters really tried their best so A for effort there. I think the issues at the restaurant really start at the management level. The bathrooms are falling apart and not clean, multiple items on the menu were sold out or no longer part of the menu, and coordination with staff really hampered my ability as a diner to have a conversation (we must have been asked if we were ok like 10+ times by different staff).
The food? B+. The tapas were ok. I would say it’s more of a fusion with southern food. I traveled through Spain for about a month and this feels more like fusion than authentic Spanish food.
I booked a late brunch reservation about a week in advance for my husband and I. We were excited because we don’t get out much since we have two small children. We hired a sitter and decided to make a day/early evening out of it.
Literally one hour (I have the time stamps!) before our reservation time, I get a call from the hostess telling me the kitchen would be closed due to a holiday party happening later that evening, and to “let her know if that would affect our reservation”. Ummm….of course that’s going to affect our brunch reservation? We cancelled, and the hostess was weirdly unapologetic about the entire situation. Really disappointed because we had already hired a sitter and obviously the restaurant knew about that holiday party in advance.
