The staff is friendly & helpful. Great story about the beginning of the restaurant & the community awareness & contributions made by the owners. Highly recommend!

But on this trip we made a special trip to go to this restaurant and we were a little disappointed. The food was not nearly as good as we remembered it and the ribs were dry. The greens were very good but the brisket probably should have stayed in the smoker longer.

This used to be one of my favorite places to eat, but my recent visit was a total disappointment. It felt as though the care and soul that once defined their food have completely vanished. The meat was particularly let down; the pulled chicken was almost soupy, and the ribs tasted as if they had been boiled rather than smoked. In fact, none of the meat tasted like it had ever seen a smoker or a grill. It was all incredibly tasteless and a far cry from the quality I used to expect. The sides were just as frustrating. I remember when the mac n cheese had a firm consistency and was made with real cheese, but now it is watery and has no flavor. The cornbread was dry, and even the sauces were horribly disappointing. I am not sure who is preparing the recipes these days, but they have lost what made them special. The only things that were halfway decent were the cole slaw and a slim okay on the collard greens. I was honestly flabbergasted at the lack of care toward the food. The current offerings are terribly lacking in Southern flavor, and I really hope upper management looks into returning to the original recipes. I used to love this place, but I would not recommend it to anyone until some serious changes are made.
