I recently learned that today’s sandwich contains 50+ ingredients when every sub-ingredient is counted. When the company was founded in 1946 by S. Truett Cathy, the original sandwich consisted of only about eight simple ingredients — chicken, flour, seasoning, oil, a buttered bun, and pickles. That simplicity was part of what made Chick-fil-A stand out. One of the reasons many customers have appreciated Chick-fil-A over the years is its reputation for quality and straightforward food. Seeing such a dramatic increase in additives, preservatives, and dough conditioners in what was once a very simple sandwich is discouraging.
