What a joke. They say they are open till midnight when apparently the kitchen stops working at 9. Not they they do not have dishes to serve. It is just that what they served has obviously been cocked a sitting around waiting for someone to order. Just 2 nights ago, I visited this location for a later dinner. Got there at 9PM and the place was pretty much empty. Our waitress walked up and asked our drink order. That went smoothly enough. When she returned, we ordered and waited for our meal. The wait was not long and the meal looked inviting. However, "looks" can be wrong. I order the Carna Asada tacos with rice and refried beans. The beans were warm but were flavorless. The rice had hardly been cooked, very dry, very hard and not good at all. However the real disappointment came from the tacos. The taco was cold, literally cold. the toppings were cold and the meat was COLD, like refrigerator cold. TOTALLY DISGUSTING. My first thought was to file a complain with the health department because the food was obviously not at a temperature to be safe for consumption. Then the worse part came. The waitress never showed back up. oh she walked past a few times but just happen to turn and go in the other direction when she got near out table. I counted 4 tables occupied in my area so it was not like she was that busy. I think she knew the food was crap and didn't want to put up with it. So finally I got up from my chair and walked to the bar to ask for my check so I could leave. After asking for the check it still took 15 minutes or so to get out of there. This place might be good, but on the night I visited their only worth was in closing. I will never visit them again.

As this is not my first time at Rocco‘s, I will say that this was my last time at Rocco‘s. An incident that has been sitting on my mind for quite some time. An associate, and I that I brought out as a client to have lunch with me along some good food, Began to become very uncomfortable as we overheard an interaction between two servers where one had dropped a racial slur. It’s quite unfortunate to say that this had completely turned the associate and I Away from the meal, as we no longer felt that we were in a safe space given our complexion and the extent of the comment made by the server. It is quite unfortunate to have brought this story back to my firm as this is a place that we’ve brought plenty of clientele in the past and unfortunately is not worth taking the risk of losing out on good business due to inviting clientele to an unsafe environment. I truly do hope this is an issue that is addressed as Rocco‘s has been a great place again, as I say this with a disheartening position, but we will see.

We decided to visit this restaurant on the spur of the moment. We were warmly welcomed by a DJ stationed in a VW bus. The waiters were very friendly and immediately escorted us to our table. For our appetizer, we had guacamole with nachos, which were excellent. Our main courses—burritos, tacos, and a Caesar salad—were also very good. However, the absolute highlight of the restaurant was our waiter. His name was Ron, and he was one of the kindest and finest people we have ever met. He made us feel completely at ease and well looked after. The atmosphere in the restaurant was also excellent, and the decor was very well done. We highly recommend this place. We are from Germany, and we are simply not accustomed to such a level of courtesy.

I had to take a moment to shout out Carla, the bartender at Rocco’s Tacos she is absolutely phenomenal. From the second we sat down, her energy was warm, welcoming, and genuinely engaging. She doesn’t just make drinks she creates an experience. Carla is incredibly knowledgeable, made amazing recommendations, and every drink she crafted was perfect. You can tell she takes pride in what she does, and it shows in every detail from presentation to flavor. On top of that, she’s attentive without being overbearing and somehow manages to make everyone at the bar feel like a VIP. It’s rare to come across someone who blends skill, personality, and professionalism so effortlessly. Carla is truly a standout and a big reason I’ll be coming back. If you’re at Rocco’s Tacos, do yourself a favor and sit at the bar you won’t regret it!

Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar in Tampa was a great stop for dinner before my cruise, and I would definitely go back. Me and three of my friends were staying at a hotel nearby without a car, so we needed somewhere within walking distance. Since Tampa’s International Plaza was only a ten minute walk from our hotel, we ended up there and decided on Rocco’s because we were craving Mexican food and margaritas. From the outside, the restaurant immediately stood out because it was bright and lively, and it looked like a fun place to eat. Once we walked in, the same energy continued inside. The atmosphere was really welcoming, and the restaurant had a lot of cool design elements. There were unique light fixtures hanging throughout the restaurant, and there was a wall display of alcohol that helped add to the overall vibe. There was also outdoor seating available, but we chose to sit inside. One detail I really liked was the wall behind us had Star Wars characters on it, which was very unique. Another detail that really stood out was in the bathroom, where there was a screen behind you playing a movie. I had never seen that before in a restaurant, and it was something that made the experience memorable and different from other Mexican restaurants. For food and drinks, we shared a pitcher of strawberry margarita, which was really good. For my meal, I ordered a chicken burrito bowl, and it tasted really good and was filling. I would say this place is a good option for a wide range of people, including families or groups of friends looking for a fun night out. It is a little more on the expensive side, but the atmosphere and location help justify the price. One thing I do wish had been mentioned more clearly is that they do not give free chips and salsa. At most Mexican restaurants, that is something I usually expect, so I was surprised and a little disappointed when it was not included and you had to pay for it. I think it would be helpful for future customers to know that ahead of time so they are not surprised when there is no free chips and salsa. Overall, I had a really good experience and would definitely go back. I would recommend Rocco’s to anyone looking for good Mexican food and margaritas, with a fun atmosphere in Tampa.
