CAVA is hands-down one of my favorite fast-casual spots right now—think of it as the Mediterranean answer to Chipotle, but often fresher, more flavorful, and honestly just more exciting.
You walk in and build your own bowl, pita, or salad, starting with a base like supergreens, saffron basmati rice, brown rice, or even crazy cauliflower. From there it's a flavor explosion: grilled chicken, braised lamb (which is melt-in-your-mouth tender), spicy lamb meatballs, falafel that's perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside, harissa honey chicken, and more. The toppings and dips are what really set it apart—creamy hummus, crazy feta (spicy whipped feta that's addictive), tzatziki, red pepper hummus, pickled onions, Persian cucumbers, cabbage slaw, roasted veggies, and a whole lineup of bold sauces like garlic dressing, skhug (herby/spicy green sauce), harissa vinaigrette, and yogurt dill.
Everything tastes bright, fresh, and well-seasoned. The ingredients feel high-quality, and the combinations are so good that even a simple veggie-heavy bowl feels satisfying and filling without being heavy. Portions are generous for the price (usually $12–$16 depending on extras), and it's genuinely healthy-ish while still feeling indulgent.
Service is quick and friendly at most locations, the restaurants are clean and modern, and the energy is upbeat. I've seen people rave about it being "the best Mediterranean fast food" they've had, and I totally get it—it's become a go-to when I want something delicious that doesn't make me feel sluggish afterward.
Sure, like any build-your-own place, portions can vary slightly by location or day, and the price is a little premium compared to some other chains. But overall? Highly recommend. If there's one near you, go try the braised lamb bowl with crazy feta, skhug, and all the veggies—it's elite.
9/10 — easily worth the hype. CAVA keeps getting it right.
