Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
In my experience at water burger on vacation from Georgia in Miramar Florida I decided to go to WHATABURGER and I have never been met with great customer service in 42 years of living the way I was met by Josh at WHATABURGER in Miramar Florida. Thanks Josh you should own that place. The food was so hot and ready. You were so polite and positive.

This was my first time here as I come from up north. The food came out quick and the order was accurate with all the mods we had requested. Henry who brought out our food was so cheerful and attentive, really made the experience impactful because you don’t always see that kind of service. He was practical and efficient, plus he graciously offered us a bag. Henry did a wonderful job in all ways especially in the customer service he showed us.

Honestly, easily one of my worst dining experiences ever. Came on a Monday evening. There were 4-5 cars in the drive-through and a couple people inside. We ordered 3 burgers and 2 fries and proceeded to wait nearly 30 minutes for our food. And somehow, after waiting that long, our burgers were barely above room temperature. It's as if they had patties sitting around for awhile and had no good way of keeping them warm. The cheese was cold and had obviously been thrown on a slightly warm patty, so it didn't melt at all. They patties were dry too. And if you look at the pictures, you will see 2 pitiful excuses for sandwiches. And someone there decided to put the core/stalk of the head of lettuce on my burger. Someoneade a conscious decision to garnish a burger with that.
I have never been more disappointed in a dining experience and will NEVER return.

What a disappointment—what is all the hype about Whataburger? Seriously, Texans act like this place invented fire and beef combined, building shrines to the orange sign and chanting “What a burger!” like it’s a religious experience. Meanwhile, I’m sitting here with a soggy, lukewarm patty the size of a hubcap, wondering if I accidentally ordered the “What happened?” burger.
Whataburger fans rave about the huge portions—like, congrats, you gave me a burger so big it needs its own zip code, but it’s still just a thin, flavorless disc that tastes like it was seasoned with nostalgia and regret. The bun? What a sponge—it soaks up every last drop of joy faster than I can say “hold the onions.” And those fries? What crispiness? They arrive softer than my standards after one too many late-night Whataburger runs.
Don’t get me started on the shakes—what a tease. They promise creamy bliss but deliver something closer to melted disappointment with a side of “why did I do this to myself?” I mean, come on—Shake Shack’s got that rich, custard-like magic that makes you forgive the price, Five Guys piles on the free peanuts and actually juicy, hand-formed patties that don’t taste like they were phoned in from 1950, and even In-N-Out (yeah, I said it) delivers fresh, simple perfection without the cult-level excuses.
Whataburger? What a relic. It’s like that friend who peaked in high school and still talks about the glory days while everyone else moved on to better burgers. The only thing “what a” about it is what a waste of calories when superior options exist literally everywhere else.
If you’re craving a burger that lives up to the legend, skip the orange glow and go where the beef actually slaps. Whataburger? What a burger… what a letdown.
