Coffee Before Coasters

Let us start with the service. Our server Alejandro was phenomenal. He checked on us just the right amount, and was very sweet. Shout out Alejandro from MD. This was our first time dining at Trattoria. We got the Garlic bread appetizer, Truffle Gnocchi, and Lasagna. All were incredible, and at a very affordable price point for Disney. Natalie teared up when she tasted the Gnocchi (it was that good). This is a great restaurant for a casual date night, or for families. We will 100% be back!!! This restaurant is Coffee Before Coasters APPROVED!
Trattoria al Forno at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort is hands down one of my favorite restaurants at Walt Disney World. I first went a little over a year ago for my graduation dinner with my family, and ever since then, I’ve been constantly going back. As soon as you walk in that restaurant, it smells so delicious like fresh pizza and Italian food. It’s just amazing! They also give you fresh rolls with a balsamic garlic oil with fresh garlic chunks in it!
My family and siblings are very particular about their food, and they had absolutely nothing to complain about—which says a lot. In fact, every time they come back to Florida to visit me, we always end up coming here. It’s become a tradition at this point.
Every time we visit, we’re usually seated in the back room and almost always have the same server—Fabiana. She is incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive, and we genuinely look forward to seeing her every time we come in. She truly adds to the experience.
Everything on the menu is fresh and made with care. The pasta is homemade, the gnocchi is homemade, and the sauces are all house-made—everything tastes absolutely perfect. If you love Italian food, this is a restaurant you cannot miss. Honestly, it’s even better than many of the Italian restaurants inside Epcot.
It does get very busy, so I highly recommend making a reservation in advance, especially if you have a larger party. It makes the entire experience much smoother when you arrive.
You truly can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Their pizza is delicious, the arancini appetizer is a must-try, and the lasagna is out of this world. I’m not even a big lasagna person, and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. I personally always get the chicken parmesan—it’s consistently amazing and a huge hit every single time.
I come here at least once a month and recommend it to everyone. Trattoria al Forno is an absolute must if you’re visiting Disney’s BoardWalk or Walt Disney World in general.

On 12/30/2025 my family had dinner reservations for 7:50. It is now 8:35 and still no table. My Disney experience is disappointing and as a frequent visitor something should be done
Written in September 2018: today, we mourn the end of our long relationship with Trattoria Al Forno.
I pose the following question to the restaurant here: How many of you have been at Al Forno long enough to remember me and my girlfriend dang near moved to tears by your original offerings?
During one trip, we ate at Al Forno nightly for three straight evenings and couldn't get enough.
Sadly, over the last year, quality has declined well below the price point. What happened? Was it the departure of Chef Rumpler or manager Athena?
The calamari now has a heavier breading, greasier and laden with heavy sauces. The lasagna was overcooked and bland; tasted like a thawed frozen meal from the supermarket.
The Pasta alla Bolognese tasted like it came from a Chef Boyardee can.
It did not help when our waitress kept walking away when we were still in conversation with her. She was not very attentive during the meal either, and unhelpful in making the evening any better.
Overall, a general downward trend over the last 12 months.
Silver lining: The olive oil is still good, let's see if they can manage to keep that going. The insalata caprese is also still a noteworthy dish ever since they brought back the heirloom tomatoes. How long before Al Forno screw those up? Let me know.
And, to you people who offer some half-hearted response here to try and somehow woo us back, please, save your energy and focus elsewhere. We are done talking, no one at the restaurant has listened over the last 12 months, so there is nothing YOU can do to make things any better, don't fool yourselves.
Updated on 25 December 2025: after a 7-year break, we decided to give Trattoria Al Forno a peek to see if anything has improved.
Bottom line up front: none.
We had a reservation for 6.10p, we arrived and checked in at 5.50p but was not seated until 6.20p. The waiter, Todd, did not show up until 6.32p.
Todd from Natick MA, had zero personality and looked like he didn't want to live anymore. No smiles, no pleasantries, no soul, dead inside. Looked like we were an inconvenience to him. Maybe his dog died. He was also a touch bit creepy with my girlfriend. Simply added very little value to our experience that night.
Manager: if someone is not in the mental state to elevate the guests' experience, send them home; they are doing more damage to the brand than the revenue is worth.
Olive oil was stone cold and flooded with cheap garlic pieces.
Burrito had tiny slivers of basil... what? Running low on basil leaves?
Short ribs were dry. Not worth eating. The accompanying Pilanta was decent.
Shrimp pasta was decent but nothing memorable.
Shiny exception: Hostess Hailey from Birdsboro, PA was helpful, charming and sets the standard for everyone else.
We continue to not return no matter what the social media people say below. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
Unfortunately, every entrée was a miss for our party of three. The chicken parmesan was tough enough to require a steak knife and lacked flavor, as did the lifeless pasta that came with it. My wife’s gnocchi was outright awful, and our toddler’s meatballs were no better. Even the color of the food seemed off, which didn’t inspire much confidence.
Service was pleasant, but when dining out, quality food matters most to me. The restaurant itself was loud and cramped, adding to what was honestly one of our worst dining experiences at Disney.
The calamari was good, but not nearly enough to carry the meal or redeem the experience. I’m genuinely surprised by how strong the reviews are—perhaps we caught them on an off night, but this was a major disappointment.
