- TTTrypsinDec 14, 20255.0As someone who grew up eating Colombian food, this place is LEGIT. The staff is always friendly and the vibe is good. It's hard to stray from my usual pan de bono, arepas or empanadas. But my absolute favorite is the Reina Pepiada, which is basically an arepa stuffed with pulled chicken, mayo, and cheese...like a chicken salad. It's incredible! I think it is also a Venezuelan food, but they are neighbors. :) I do wish they were closer to Winter Park, but they are always worth the drive. if you haven't been to Mecatos, I know they have multiple locations around Central Florida, so check them out! This one by UCF is very roomy and not far from campus. If this had been there during my UCF days I would have been here a few times per week for sure. They have so many different breads and items that I've never tried before, and many other options for those who want something a bit more traditional, like avocado toast or croissant sandwiches. My husband usually gets the empanadas which are fantastic, though we have not tried their Colombian burger yet. Next time! Go check them out!
