Overall not a terrible experience, but the quality of the food leaves a lot to be desired. I happen to love bacon wrapped scallops, and they were quite tasty but we had to work on them a bit because when they came out the bacon was severely undercooked. I also ordered the penne pasta with the vodka sauce and it was very mediocre. I would not order that again. My wife ordered a cup of tomato bisque soup and it was very flavorful, but for eight dollars it was only about the size of a thimble. You should get more than a half an ounce worth of soup if you're going to pay eight dollars! I'm not sure what the actual size is but it was very tiny. And finally, the rice and bean bowl that my wife ordered was also very mediocre. The place does overlook a nice little lake so it's not a bad location, and our server was very nice, but I have to say the quality of the food just isn't all that great. And it is a little bit on the pricey side. There are too many other choices for me to want to come back. We may give it one more shot just to try to be fair, but our expectations won't be very high if we decide that we want to try to do that.
I love coming to canvas! The atmosphere of the restaurant sets a great mood and I love that it is on the water - makes for a great view during sunset. I came with a larger party and our server Matt was amazing. He was an extremely kind, attentive, and patient with the larger table. We had a lovely dinner because of it! Will definitely be coming back soon and highly recommend.

We want to love this restaurant so we’ve give them multiple attempts and are always disappointed. The service is terrible and so slow. It’s in Great location. Tonight we took out of town guests and weren’t greeted for 10 minutes. Drinks took 25 minutes. Appetizers even longer. Never asked if we wanted a second round of drinks. Didn’t refill our water. Such a bummer. We had to get a manager and the server didn’t care because his tip was already added to our bill. Just so disappointing but we won’t be back.

So about a weeks ago I made reservations to this restaurant as to knowing how busy it gets plus it was Spring Break week.I was celebrating my birthday with friends and family so it was a large group of us.Upon arrival everything we were seated quickly and not long after that our server Jim arrived. He was nice man and trying his hardest but to us he wasnt as attentive due to him having tables in different parts of the restaurant which seemed odd.He seemed pretty stressed that thru out the time some of our drinks and food were forgotten..He did apologized. Now we did wait for our food for about an hr maybe longer.I assumed it was due to having a few line cooks about 3 and a chef talking to another chef or manager on the side of the line.It was spring break so I figured it would be super busy and seeing just 3 Line cooks and our food taking an hr made me think they were shirt staffed. The worst hasnt been said once we finally received our food 3 of us sent our food back.My sisters steak was charcoal black and what pissed me off the most is they tried covering up by flipping the still burnt just not as bad side upside down like she wouldnt notice. But we told them they had to refire it because that was not edibleNow she had to wait about another 20 mins. They did the same to my brothers steak but he was already upset from waiting so long and hungry that he ate it but will nevwr go back.My best friends calamari was super rubbery and tasted terrible she sent her food back and gor the pasta which she did say it was good. Now my meatloaf was burnt on the top very bland and the Mac and cheese tasted like spoiled milk so of course I was not going to eat it nor did I want to stay there any longer after all the bad experiences. To me the worst part was also seeing the fenale line cook by the ovens wipe her nose and not even wash or change her gloves that definitely did it for me to say lets get the hell out of here and loss my appetite. It was so bad everyone wanted to leave and not eat anything from there that I didn't want anyone to get me a dessert to at least sing Happy Birthday.I was just so disappointed and had high expectations that weren't meant on a special day with all my loved ones and left hungry.I did speak to one of the managers there I think his name was Todd I might be wrong.Todd was nice man very attentive to our concerns and issues with the food.I did ask him if they were short staffed seeing how our server had tables so spread out even to the outside patio and he said No that they usually arent busy on Wednesday but it also seems they weren't aware that it was Spring Break but most restaurants know when its Spring break so maybe that was just an excuse for the bad service we received. Now my review is based off of my own experience and opinions.I went to Canvas for brunch about a yr ago for a friends gender reveal which at the time everything was great which is why I chose Canvas for my birthday but honestly I will never go back knowing I spend $200 for a bad overall birthday lunch..
Great food, but I didn’t realize I’d be working as part of the staff during dinner. We still tipped… but at that point we probably should’ve clocked in instead.
I swear this whole experience felt like a social experiment or something.
We were quoted a 20-minute wait that turned into 40, which is fine, but when we got the “table ready” text and went up front, the staff didn’t even know if our table was actually ready. Already confused.
Then we get seated at a 4-person table. We ask if we can sit at the 2-person table literally right next to it (like… less than a foot away), and they say no. Instead, they have us pull apart the 4-person table ourselves to make it work… and we had to clean it too because there was still stuff on it. At this point I’m like ok so we’re employees now?
Then a manager comes over and asks us to pick up and rotate our table to make space for a couple with a baby. Mind you this is the SECOND time we’ve had to move our table. We do it… and then they don’t even seat the couple there. So we just rearranged the restaurant for fun I guess.
The hostess was also hovering and making small talk about a matcha I got from the coffee spot inside, which felt like she was trying to make up for the table situation but it just made everything more awkward.
Also why are the water refills like that?? They kept coming by and pouring literal droplets instead of just filling the glass. And our server somehow had perfect timing in the worst way possible — every single time my mouth was full, she would appear and ask how everything was. It became a running joke.
At one point we were laughing so hard because we genuinely couldn’t believe what was happening.
The crazy part is the food was actually really good. We spent around $200, so I expected the experience to match.
Overall… great food, but the service felt like a fever dream. At this point I’m just wondering when HR is sending my onboarding paperwork.
