I am absolutely horrified by how this Chick Fil A treats its customers. I have never been treated so badly by any restaurant.
I went into this Chick Fil A with my 8 year old son. I bought us each food, and sat down with him, chatting with him and helping him with his homework. We had time to kill, so we were there a while, just grazing on our food and doing his homework. Other than ordering our food (which was a perfectly normal food ordering interaction), we did not interact with a single other person there, not even once. We weren't shouting or running around or doing anything unusual, we were just sitting and chatting and doing his homework. Then, suddenly, a cop walks into the restaurant, talks to the manager, then approaches me. He asked for my driver's license and told me I am being trespassed, that the staff has requested that I be trespassed. I handed him my license, and very confused, I asked why I'm being trespassed. He said they told him I'd been yelling at female employees and shouting obscenities. This wasn't an exaggeration, it was literally a complete lie, there was absolutely zero grain of truth to it. I had not exchanged a single word with any employee beyond "I'll take a #1 meal and a #9 meal please, both large, with sweet teas for both drinks, with chick fil a sauce", said in a totally normal inside voice. That was literally my only interaction with the staff. Not hostile or anything, I was in a fine & normal mood. And I certainly had not been shouting obscenities of any kind, or shouting anything for that matter. The staff had literally just made up a completely fabricated story about me, and had me trespassed, and I had no idea why. I wondered if maybe some of my earlier conversation was overheard by staff and someone didn't like something I said, but I didn't really say anything taboo, the most controversial it got was me explaining to my son why socialist central planning tends to lead to shortages due to the economic calculation problem. Not exactly inflammatory, but maybe some socialist employee heard it and got angry. That's my leading theory anyway, I can't think of anything else it could have been.
Anyway, at no point was I ever asked to modify my conversation, or even to leave, they just went straight to calling the police to have me detained and formally trespassed. Police encounters can be serious and dangerous business, and this one took place in the presence of my little boy, out of nowhere, courtesy of Chick Fil A. Absolutely unacceptable behavior from any business, let alone a reputable national chain.
