This place used to be good, Not sure what has happened in the past couple of years? We travel from Orlando to eat there and every time we’ve been there it’s been a disappointing experience, from Service to their food Quality has gone down the drain we keep giving them chances one after another but this time is the last time we will visit this restaurant!!

Las Palmas always seems to be busy, so we finally decided to give it a try. We started with the Cuban Tapas Platter, which included an empanada, papa rellena, tamal cubano, croquetas, yuca rellena, and yuca frita. It was a great sampler and a nice way to try a variety of flavors. The draft beer was unavailable during our visit, so we ordered Palma Cuban canned beer instead, and it paired well with the meal. For my entrée, I ordered the Garlic Cuban sandwich with ham, pork, Swiss, mustard, pickles, and garlic olive oil. It was flavorful and satisfying. My wife had the Masitas de Puerco al Ajillo, tender pork chunks finished in garlic olive oil and topped with grilled onions, and she really enjoyed it. We finished with two espressos, which was the perfect way to end the meal. Overall, the food was wonderful, the atmosphere was lively, and we highly recommend it.

Was told to come back in 15 minutes to get seated. Ok, no problem. Went back only to be told 15 more minutes. Sure thing. We get sat. We began to order Mac and Cheese with fries, Chicken Tenders with Fries, and we split a Garlic Cuban sandwich. Which, is what they are known for. My 16 year old got her tenders early as a kids menu item. We ordered the adult but whatever. They were the worst looking tenders ever. They mirrored calamari, but after pulling one apart it was chicken. My daughter began to eat. The rest of the food arrived. Our onion rings with the sandwich were deep fried in minimum, 14 day old fryer oil. Tasted and looked like it. The cuban sandwich tasted old, and it had no mustard on it. I proceeded to go get mustard from the bartender, who was our server, and my wife showed me the aluminum foil that was stuck on the back inside. I am now not happy. I picked up one of my daughters 3 squirrelly tenders, tore it apart, and it had plastic wrap still on the chicken on the inside. Gross. It made us sick to our stomachs. I proceeded to give this to our server, poor gal, not her fault, but she missed the service mark by not being attentive to what we ordered. Not good people. Not good. We will not show our food pictures as they are THAT bad.

I had an amazing experience at Las Palmas Cuban Restaurant in Mount Dora. The service was outstanding from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious — everything tasted fresh and full of flavor. The hosts were excellent at what they do. We were immediately greeted at the door with a smile on both of their faces. I asked them several questions about the menu, and they were very patient, knowledgeable, and great at explaining everything clearly. They really understood what I was asking. I can’t recall their names but having knowledgeable workers gave me a positive experience before I was even sat and I am very thankful for that. ❤️ It was also perfectly cool inside, which I really appreciated since it was so hot outside because it’s Florida☀️🥵 and my party and I needed to cool off. Our server, Micah , was amazing — he kept checking on us, made sure we had everything we needed, and treated us so well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Mount Dora. I will absolutely be coming back!

The place is worth visiting. It has become a must-stop every time we return to Mount Dora. There are certain areas that need improvement, such as respecting the estimated wait times. We were told 15 to 20 minutes, but we waited 35. However, the food made up for it—it was absolutely delicious and very well prepared. Another aspect to improve is customer service. The young man who attended to us was very kind, but we had to make sure he noticed us whenever we needed something after he brought the food. We requested a refill of sweet tea, and they told us they had already thrown it out—even though we had asked two of them in advance. But overall, it’s definitely worth coming back because we really enjoy the food.
