Magnifico lugar. La comida deluciosa. El camarero Camilo muy amable. Pedi un arroz guajiri, delicioso, lo recomiendo 100%, elaborado por la chef Juliet.

We loved our experience here! Our 9 month old LOVED the cilantro rice, black beans, bread, and yuka. So did we! Our server was so nice. We will come again when we are in the area!

The service itself was excellent — our server was attentive and did his best, although you could clearly notice his frustration with the kitchen staff. Unfortunately, the food overall was very disappointing.
Our meals arrived incorrect. The steaks were placed on the wrong plates, with the sides switched, so we had to manually rearrange the food ourselves. One of the fajita plates did not taste like churrasco at all. I’m very familiar with flank steak (my wife ordered churrasco), and the fajitas tasted nothing like it. On top of that, the fajita plate barely had any meat — it was mostly onions and peppers.
The tortillas that came with the fajitas were completely inedible. They were extremely hard and rubbery — gum was softer than those tortillas. I had to return them, but they were simply not usable.
To make matters worse, when my wife went to the restroom, there was NO toilet paper, and the sink was missing the water knob & trash overfilled. This is unacceptable, especially for a so-called “top Cuban restaurant.”
This was my second visit. The first time, I didn’t leave a review — the food (bistec) tasted okay, but the presentation was sloppy. This second visit was far worse and very disappointing overall.
I expected much better quality and attention to detail given that it was not a Sunday.

UPDATE: Sadly, Edna G. (the wildly immature owner of this restaurant) continues in her deluded attempt to avoid accepting that her restaurant is as mediocre as her replies. Your food lacks flavor. Your restaurant lacks cleanliness. Your leadership lacks ability. Your character lacks development. Edna, dear, get out of the kitchen - you obviously cannot take the heat.
*BTW - It's called infestation when visitors find bugs on your dining room floor.
UPDATE: I posted this same review on Yelp and the Owner, Edna G., keeps posting back, to the extent of harassment. Do with this information what you will, but I think Mt. Dora deserves better.
Sí o no? A resounding NO. I waited months to try Las Palmas after moving to Mt. Dora. Now I know why. Hugely disappointing experience and I will never return. The server was nice enough, but after ordering a basic Cuban sandwich with "seasoned" fries I sat waiting for almost 20 minutes before getting my food. They are currently looking for kitchen help, so okay delay. When I finally did get my food it was mediocre at best. A bland Cuban sandwich is enough to make any Hispanic sad. The "seasoned" fries? Seasoned with...banality. I didn't even taste salt, but noticed there sure seemed to be enough oil on my plate under the fries. But the nail in the coffin (shudder) was, as I was preparing to leave, seeing a large cockroach on the dining room floor. I pointed it out to my server, left the other half of the unfinished Cuban in the takeout container on the table and walked out. They got $19 from me today - they'll never get another dime. And I HIGHLY recommend they figure out their situation before a health inspector stops by. Blech...
