I am writing this review to detail a disturbing experience with the Papa John's at the Bird Road located at 6701 Bird Rd, Miami, FL 33155 concerning Order 1261196630 on November 26 2025.
My order was delivered by a DoorDash driver (third-party delivery). When the driver handed me the food, I was shocked to discover a live cockroach on the exterior of the packaging. This is a severe public health violation that poses a major concern regarding sanitation in the food preparation, staging, or handling process, and is utterly unacceptable for any food service establishment.
I immediately called the store to report this major health hazard. The first employee who answered the phone was extremely kind, responsive, and seemed genuinely appalled by the situation. She was helpful and immediately sought to connect me with a manager to resolve the issue.
However, once I was connected with the manager on duty or who ever was in charge at that point if time, the interaction turned sour. Instead of showing concern, apologizing, or offering an immediate resolution for the contaminated food, the manager was immediately defensive, unhelpful, and incredibly rude.
The manager refused to take responsibility, claiming the issue was entirely the fault of the DoorDash third-party driver and speaking in a loud, confrontational manner. Despite the severe nature of finding a pest on the delivery and the fact that I ordered through the Papa John’s platform, the manager refused to process a simple refund or offer any assistance. I had to contact the corporate office and DoorDash customer service myself just to get a refund for a health-risk product.
I believe regardless of which company delivers the food, the quality and sanitation of the product are the responsibility of the restaurant. This incident involves a crisis-level sanitation problem and a complete failure of leadership and customer service by the manager on duty. The manager's unhelpful and rude response only compounded the initial issue. I strongly advise the owners to review their hygiene practices and immediately retrain or replace the defensive and rude management staff.
