First time I went was good. This time not so much. Our server took 30 minutes just to place our orders ( he was super nice tho). When they served us they gave me the wrong menu item, so had to wait even longer for them to fix that mistake. The seabass tacos were extremely fishy and were not able to be finished. The original dish that I had ordered tasted so much better the first time I had it. Also why is there 80s music playing at a chill Mexican restaurant?

Norman G was an excellent server at Koko. He was very knowledgeable about gluten-free allergies, which is honestly not common in Miami, and that made a huge difference for us. Everything he recommended was really good—especially the shrimp tacos, which were my favorite. My boyfriend and I had a great time. The drinks were very good, the food overall was delicious, and the ambience made the experience even better. Koko is a very nice place, and Norman’s service truly stood out. The only thing we had a tough time with was the chips and guacamole. The chips seemed a bit stale and too hard. Other than that, everything was excellent, and we would definitely come back.

I used to be a regular at Koko and, until recently, both the food and service were consistently good. Unfortunately, after my latest experiences, that is no longer the case. On this visit, the service was genuinely disappointing. The waiter’s communication was absolutely abysmal. We arrived with our dog and were seated without issue. About 10–15 minutes later, while our dog was sitting quietly next to my partner (and frankly better behaved than many small children I’ve seen in restaurants), the waiter abruptly told us to put the dog on the floor. There was no courtesy or explanation — just a dismissive tone — followed by him slapping a card on the table outlining the restaurant’s “dog rules.” Those rules were written in an unnecessarily authoritarian and condescending manner, which only added to the poor experience. There is a way to communicate policies politely, and this was not it. To make matters worse, on a prior visit our food arrived late and one dish was served with hair in it — something that should never happen at this level. It’s a real shame, as Koko used to be a place I enjoyed and recommended. Sadly, the decline in service standards and basic hospitality means I won’t be returning anytime soon.

Server said catch of the day was going to take 40-45 min to prep. said ok and ordered something else in the meanwhile. vegan bowl seemed like mediocre prepared sides thrown into one plate. Came back 20 min later and said kitchen hadn't even started preparing the fish. server took every order and average of 2-3 times. Only redeeming qualities of this restaurant were the drinks and the ambience. Will not come back here again.
