Rancid Mussels
I dined in on Saturday March, 28th with a group of six guests near 10:00pm. I ordered mussels and a side of Brussels. The food wasn’t bad, I thoroughly enjoyed my Brussels. However, as I was eating my mussels, I bit into one that had a foul odor. It smelled akin to cat pee, ammonia, a litter box. This is a common smell when mussels are either dead or killed too early before they are cooked to be consumed.
I work in the restaurant industry (specifically in food safety) so I’m never a harsh critic when I dine with other restaurants, I understand how grueling the business can be. However, this situation posed an immediate risk to guests health and the situation was not treated as such.
I was for lack of better words told that I was lying. Our waitress told me that she ate the mussels earlier and they were fine, that all their food is fresh. Seafood is tricky, a lot of the mussels could have been alive before they hit the cooking process. However, if they are not properly sorted and inspected it is more than possible that a couple of rancid mussels were missed— which I came dangerously close to consuming. I think the waitress assumed I was looking for a comp, I was not. I genuinely care about the safety of others and wanted the kitchen to know so they could properly address, assess, and rectify the situation. However, I was ignored and told that I was lying. This poor table-side manner can result in a loss of customers moving forward. I hope that the Kitchen Manager & Owners take this seriously and commit to action.

My wife and I went to this restaurant after a show we had went to see and immediately the waitress was unfriendly. Usually we leave establishments if we feel the service isn’t good of bat but we were with a group of people who were hungry. My wife ordered the mussels and we were enjoying it until she got a RANSID MUSSEL!!!!!!! We brought it to the waitress’ attention immediately and she quickly told us we were lying that’s just how they are and she “Just ate them 3 hours before.” She continued to tell us they’re fine and at the point we just asked for the check and left. Do not eat here they’re not friendly, serving RANSID food to customers and when it’s brought to their attention the customer is lying. We were charged for it as well. People die from RANSED SEAFOOD BY THE WAY!

We visited on a Friday night around 7 pm. Inside was mostly empty. We decided to sit at the bar. After sitting for a few minutes we asked for menus. Their are no drinks on their menu, so we asked for a cocktail menu. This was just a photocopied list of named drinks with no descriptions. After sitting at the bar for 15 minutes, someone finally asked what we'd like. The server took my order, but didn't stay long enough to take my husband's order. He had to ask a different person for his drink. There was plenty of staff, some just standing around. With service the way it was we ended up just getting an appetizer and 1 round of drinks, even though we had planned to stay for dinner. Not sure if this was just a bad night, but we definitely weren't impressed for our first visit.
