My son and I went out for lunch on Sunday to a local restaurant. He ordered the premier burger, which turned out to be quite bland, even after he added salt and pepper; the bun tasted cheap, similar to the stale bread often served in school cafeterias. I had the steak sandwich, but it resembled overcooked pot roast rather than a properly cooked steak. The meat was tough and chewy, and the bread was soggy and limp. We also ordered a pork empanada, which was flavorless and served with a small side of bottled barbecue sauce that tasted artificial. Overall, the meal was disappointing, and I doubt I will be returning. Unfortunately, the food felt processed, bland, and overpriced. The kitchen looked unclean, with a dirty plastic bucket sitting in the center of the kitchen. The burger alone cost about 22 dollars, making the experience even more frustrating. My son moved here from Virginia, and I suggested Hemingway’s for a nice lunch, but I felt bad for him because he spent around 70 dollars on this unappetizing and disappointing meal.

The people complaining are definitely the "not from around here crowd". The ones you have honk at in the left lane to let them know they haven't passed a single car in 5 miles. This place was incredible. Friendly personalized service. Great food. Quick with everything we ordered even when very busy.

Stopped by for dinner with my parents and siblings to celebrate a birthday. Service was excellent as well as food selection and quality. Had a great time and being Hispanic, it was a pleasure to enjoy the kind of food mix that was offered. This place is a gem and will visit again when I am back in Florida visiting my family there.

Hemingway's is a great concept. I went with a group for food to go and they didn't treat us any different than those dining in. The hostess/greeter had such a warm disposition it was a joy to watch her execute her tasks. Staff smiled and acknowledged me as they walked by and the atmosphere is eccentric and exciting.

So I'll preface this review with I used to come here a lot and have brought a lot of friends here. Typically, the waitress will let me sub out plantains (reverse bananas) for rice without issue.
Tonight, I went to the outdoor window and was told they cannot sub rice for plantains, but can sub for black beans. Like what? Plantains are carb for carb? Anyway she asked if I wanted to speak with a manager and I said no because who the heck wants to speak with a manager over Plantains and black beans?? I don't got time to discuss with management about freakin 75 grams of cooked rice. 🤨....
I spent well over $40 dollars with empanadas and I guess a scoop of rice is going to bankrupt this place. Unreal. I had to go home and pop open a can of Goya myself.
