I was heart broken to see that they had closed down over the past couple years. Augys was a place that my family would go to celebrate big things and somewhere we also would go to mourn. These past couple months have been extremely hard on me and all I could think about was Augys. Just a couple days ago I was looking online to see anything I could about Augys reopening and I stumbled across a Facebook post and how the same family owns this Mama Mia’s. I instantly called my parents who now live in Georgia and told them I have amazing news and they replied with “Augys is opening back up” and I told them that I had found Mama Mia’s. Today I decided to go and see if it was the same Detroit Sicilian that Augys had. I was not disappointed one bit. I felt so much joy having a taste of my childhood again. My parents are ready to come down just to eat from this place. I was so happy to see Marcelo there. He always was at Augys when I would go and the moment I saw him I knew that this is my new place. Thank you guys for making my past several months better just with one pizza. I will be back regularly and so will all my friends who grew up on Augys. If I could give it a 10 star I would. Definitely go to Mama Mia’s if you’re looking for the best pizza you’ll ever eat and definitely get the Detroit Sicilian.
