There was absolutely nothing special about the lunch experience at this Contemporary Resort restaurant. For all the great reviews calling it "amazing" I was shocked by bland meat sandwiches that came in very small portions on soggy buns along with maybe a dozen tiny fries. This was not filling nor worth $24 each. The atmosphere was clean school lunchroom--where is the design that integrates Disney? And for some odd reason, with the place over half empty, they insisted on putting us right next to another group of three on the banquette seating, three feet apart, so we could hear each other's conversations despite no one sitting within other six tables on the bench the entire time we were there. The server acted brisk but uncaring, the staff at the reservation desk seemed unhappy or bored, and the whole operation lacked sparkle that should come with a Disney operation. At the end I said that I enjoyed the food and atmosphere at the loud Yacht & Beach Club Beaches & Cream Soda Shop more than this dull place. If there were a next time, I'd avoid ordering the smallish sandwiches and ask to be moved away from others to one of the many vacant spots. But there won't be a next time.

Steakhouse 71 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort – A Review That’s Mostly About the Incredible Hospitality I recently dined at Steakhouse 71 during a trip to Walt Disney World, and while the food, atmosphere, and overall experience were excellent, what truly elevated the entire evening was the outstanding service—specifically from the Maitre d’ Jalen. She was, without a doubt, the greatest. From the moment we walked in, Jalen greeted us with a warmth and professionalism that felt genuinely personal. She has this perfect blend of Disney magic and real-deal restaurant expertise. She remembered our reservation details, made us feel like VIPs even though we were just a regular family visiting from Orlando. Jalen clearly takes pride in her role and leads with honesty and care, treating every guest like they’re the most important person in the room. In an industry where things can sometimes feel scripted, her authenticity stood out. She made our night unforgettable and turned a good meal into a memorable experience. The additional Maitre d’ Ryan was also fantastic and complemented Jalen perfectly. Ryan brought the same level of energy and attentiveness. As for the rest of the meal: The restaurant itself has a stylish 1970s retro vibe reimagined for today—think sleek lines, comfortable seating, and fun nods to Disney history and Florida flair (Orange Bird sightings included). It’s relaxed enough for casual Disney attire but upscale enough to feel special. Overall, Steakhouse 71 is a winner for its convenient location at the Contemporary (easy monorail or walk access), solid menu, and chill atmosphere. But Jalen? She’s the reason we’ll be back. Her integrity, warmth, and excellence made it feel like more than just dinner—it felt like being truly taken care of. Five stars, easily. Go for the steaks, stay for the service led by legends like Jalen and Ryan. Highly recommended!

Not really a steakhouse. Just steakhouse prices. It has the ambiance of a Golden Corral. Bright. Noisy. Crowded. Nard surface tables. Not the dim, quiet, serene, table cloth and napkin kinda place "steakhouse" evokes. We started with $10 Caesars. They were typical. The croutons had a hint of sweet. Maybe cornbread? Filet $48, NY Strip $38 and the pan seared chicken were flavorfully. The steaks from a "steakhouse" one might expect a nice crust from a 1500° grill served hot and sizzling. No. Kinda mushy and warm. No crust. The "Charred Asparagus" is no longer charred we were told, people complained about the char. Instead it was "hard". Barely cooked, it was snapping hard. We chose to forgo dessert. The table next to us got chocolate cake and they were huge 11 layer pieces. Each got their own and no one came close to finishing. Order your piece accordingly! Probably would not return to this Disney restaurant.

Came here for a Saturday brunch with my daughter and son-in-law. My daughter (❤️) ordered the Floridian Eggs Benedict, while the two guys ordered up the regular Eggs Benedict, which came with hash browns. I also ordered a side of turkey sausage, thinking I was hungrier than I actually was. Each of us finished our meals, but barely, and only after a little sharing went on after we started slowing down 🙄. My sausage pick was somewhat disappointing in flavor and spark-less presentation, but the real disappointment was in the overcooked Eggs Benedict . . . Shame! Huge breakfast faux pas there. The service, as with any respectable Disney restaurant, was exemplary at the table, but even WITH reservations (!) we were forced to wait over a half hour. Unexceptable! - - - and customers should stop thinking this is normal. If there is going to be a 45 minute wait after a 10 AM reservation, tell me the only reservations available are for 10:45! Simple. Again . . Shame! Disney can do better.

If you ever want to feel like a VIP but still get reminded you’re not the one in charge of anything welcome to my birthday dinner at Steakhouse 71 inside the iconic Disney’s Contemporary Resort. First of all, let’s talk about my wife. This woman didn’t make a reservation. No. She launched a three-month strategic operation like she was planning a moon landing. I don’t even plan what I’m eating for lunch tomorrow, and she had my birthday dinner locked in before I even knew what day my birthday was falling on this year. And let me educate you real quick: You don’t just walk into Steakhouse 71. You need reservations, timing, patience, and possibly a connection at Disney headquarters. This place is tighter than a Publix endcap during BOGO week. We walk in clean, classy, smooth vibe. The kind of place where you sit a little straighter because you feel underdressed even when you’re dressed nice. Then you catch the view and suddenly you’re questioning your entire career path. Maybe I should’ve invested in something anything Now let’s get to the food, because THIS is where things got dangerous. We start with the onion soup and clam chowder. Dear Lord. I’m not exaggerating this was the kind of soup that makes you pause mid-bite and just stare into space like you just saw your life flash before your eyes but in a good way. Then comes the bread. Sea salt–dusted potato brioche. Soft, warm, perfect. And the butter? Branded with the “71” logo like it just signed a corporate contract. I’m sitting there thinking, Even the butter here has a better brand identity than half the products I sell. Now the main event I ordered the New York strip with steak fries and asparagus. This steak was so tender I didn’t need a knife. A FORK. A FORK. At this point I’m not eating I’m experiencing a spiritual awakening. My wife orders the sirloin with mashed potatoes. They set the plate down and the smell of butter hits the table like it just kicked the door open. I immediately start calculating how to accidentally switch plates without ruining my marriage. And let me tell you for a brief moment I considered it. Between the food, the atmosphere, and the fact that my wife orchestrated this like a five-star general this wasn’t dinner. This was an event. Final thoughts: Make. The. Reservation. Do not play around with this place. This is not a let’s just see if they have a table situation. This is a book it, confirm it, screenshot it, and pray nothing changes kind of restaurant. 10/10 experience. Would absolutely come back. Would absolutely fight for the last piece of bread again. And most importantly Next year, I’m letting my wife plan everything again because clearly, I bring nothing to the table except appetite.
