Beware if you call to say that you’re 10 minutes late for your reservation, they’re gonna give away your table and make you wait 45 minutes before they can honor your reservation.
Wish I could say it got better but service was slow & food was undercooked. Why am I missing fireworks if my reservation was at 6:45?

Pros: Location, retro vibes, service. That's where it ends unfortunately.
Cons: NOT A GENUINE STEAKHOUSE EXPERIENCE. Selection is limited. Portions are dismal and seemingly not as described on the menu. There is a severe lack of standard steakhouse offerings. No lemon in my water, no bread and butter. No sauce that isn't an upcharge. If there is a signature sauce, let me see some on the table.
Steakhouses should have nice, decorative garnishes for their drinks, heck maybe even a coaster to put it on. As a bartender I know how people order with their eyes, if they see something vibrant or eye catching the drinks sell themselves. My Bloody Maria came with 2 olives, no lime, no celery, no pepperoncini. BORING!!!
I don't want to pay 12$ plus tax and tip for bread and butter off the appetizer list. The loaded baked potato soup was thick like a chowder, not a soup but edible, despite it looking like it died in the window before it made it to my table.
My 12 oz prime rib was anything but 12 oz, MR or appetizing. I didn't even cut into it. The sauce portion was roughly 3/4 oz, and didn't taste like any Au Poivre I've ever had before.
The grilled asparagus was sad and minimal. The sautéed mushrooms were adequate enough, but I think once you order an upcharged second side they skimp on the portion of the one that came included with the price of the entrée.
The replacement 10 oz NY strip was anything but 10 oz, it was nowhere near the standard one inch thickness, had no color, zero flavor or seasoning, and no heat/warmth. I could get a better strip steak at Waffle House. It felt like it slid across the grill on the way to a plate.
My husband salivated over their menu for days and unfortunately his meal was also not worth the anticipation.

Let’s get it out of the way right now: yes, it’s a little pricey. It’s a Disney restaurant. BUT, in terms of Disney restaurants, Steakhouse 71 is a very very good value. Got a drink at the bar while we waited for our reservation time and for the table to be ready—the French 71 and the Blackberry-Orange Spritz. Both were excellent. Emma was our server and she was amazing. We got the onion rings for a starter, which were absolutely phenomenal. The dipping sauce alone was excellent. We both got the 6oz sirloin, which were cooked well enough. The mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese were both amazing—but definitely go with the red wine sauce. 15 layer chocolate cake for dessert which was just as rich and tasty as it sounds.
A delicious, but definitely pricey meal.
We had a wonderful experience with Amy. She made us feel welcome and was very knowledgeable about the menu.
We started out with appetizers and ordered the Potato Brioche with butter and bacon jam, as well as the Onion Rings. I think I was expecting a tower of onion rings and not 5, which felt a little measly - delicious, but measly.
For the main, I got the fish of the day which was salmon. And it came with seasonal vegetables and a orzo risotto. The risotto was the star of this dish - fresh, and light. The salmon on the other hand was salty, slightly overcooked, and the portion was too small for my liking. So the main was a pass.
For dessert, i ordered the carrot cake cheesecake. Again, the portion size was on the smaller side especially when compared to the specialty chocolate layered cake that is their specialty. The flavour again was delicious, but the size was smaller than I was expecting.
Overall I had a very delicious meal at Steakhouse 71. But for 170$, its sad that a part of me was leaving still feeling a little hungry. Would I come back? Maybe.

I only take time to give negative reviews when I think it will help the establishment. I decided to dine here because I thought that a steakhouse at Disney’s Contempoary Resirt would be an easy 5 stars, but I was very underwhelmed. The atmosphere was OK, and the service was OK, but the food was not. The burger (that I had heard was great) was not anything special at all. The fries were not good at all. Not crispy on the outside or soft on the inside. Even after I ordered a fresh batch. The wings (which I was in the mood for some good wings) were terrible. They were so big I would not even consider them restaurant “wings”. They were so big that they didn’t even get cooked all the way through & there was red blood near the bone. I’m not sure what sort of chef thinks that is appetizing. Even if they were cooked all the way through, they are not enjoyable to eat. Please give me 6-8 good wings at a “nice” steakhouse instead of 4 jumbo wings that suck really bad. If they were “confit” wings or confit duck wings that were that big I would understand. I just don’t understand how an executive chef would put this product on a menu. I will gladly remove the review when they improve their offerings.
