Not a fan of BBQ but this place makes me a believer. Great staff and relaxed sitting. Love the fl fries with mixed brisket and a 6 piece lemon pepper wings. Only place I go to and worth the drive

This place is a solid 4 stars in terms of Jacksonville BBQ. There is adequate seating outside and a few tables inside. The interior had a funky and fun vibe, not typical of BBQ places. I wasn't able to see what kind of smoker is used, but based in the enclosure and the flavor of the brisket, I'm guessing they use a gas heat wood smoke style smoker. I tried a few things iff the menu. First, I asked for brisket from the point. The woman taking my order didn't sem to know what the point is and asked if I wanted the fatty or lean slices of brisket. Anyone who works at a BBQ place should know the terminology. The point of the brisket is the fattier side and the flat is the leaner part of the brisket. I also ordered a Florida Boy sandwich with pulled pork with a side of curry fries and a side of Mac n cheese. The brisket had a nice bark, good pull and tenderness. It was nicely seasoned with salt and pepper, but I detected a hint of sugar, which I dont care for on beef. I also noticed that rendered fat was poured over the brisket to give it the appearance of juiciness. I personally don't like the flavor of rendered deckle fat. I had to soak it up with a napkin. The Florida Boy sandwich had a good seasoned flavor, but the dried hard pork took away from a positive eating experience. I had use the unnamed sauce on the table to lend some moisture to the meat. This dried hardness is typical of pork butt thay was cooked at too high of a temp. The curry fries were very good. I'll leave it at that. The mac n cheese was very creamy but lacked a cheesy flavor. The pasta was perfectly cooked. I added some pulled pork and brisket to the Mac n cheese and found it to be a good combo. All in all, it was a good experience. I don't see myself taking my friends all the way across Jax for the purpose of coming here, but if I happen to be on this side of town and craving BBQ, I will come here again.

I don’t eat BBQ often and I was skeptical, my man brought me here and wow! 🤯 Florida fries are a shareable meal on its own, the smoked French toast is a delightful treat, the sweet tea is not drowning in sugar, the atmosphere for the football game was wonderful, and ONG the bathrooms were clean . 10/10 would recommend. I’m pregnant so I couldn’t partake in the beer but they do have ice cold glasses.

Today my wife and me went to try BBQ from Butt Hutt and it was totally worth it. We had the banging curry fries with jrk chicken and it was a banger. Then I had the florida brisket sandwich and it was a home run. Please go and support this great little bbq Hutt. Also the bartender was part of the family and made it feel like we belonged there. Thank you
