At first, I was the only customer in line, looking over the menu, when another customer walked in behind me. The staff member skipped over me and started to assist her first. I politely said, “Excuse me, I was here first,” and while he apologized and corrected the mistake, the situation set the tone for what followed. After placing my order for a meatball sub, I moved down to the register area. At that point, a young man working the register asked me, “What can I help you with?” in a dismissive tone. When I explained that I had already ordered and was just waiting for my sub to come out of the toaster, his response was rude and aggressive. He then questioned me by asking, “Is there a problem?” instead of offering to assist me properly. His tone and delivery came across as disrespectful and unnecessary. I attempted to address the situation with the manager, who was standing right there. Rather than de-escalating, she raised her voice at me, which only made matters worse. At one point, the same young man shouted from the back of the store, adding to the unprofessionalism. I felt disrespected as a customer and disappointed by both the staff and management. As a business located inside a hospital, where people come while dealing with health issues, I would expect a much higher standard of courtesy and professionalism. Because of the way I was treated, I ultimately declined the meal and left the store. I am requesting that this incident be reviewed and addressed appropriately so that no other customer has to go through a similar experience.
