When it comes to Jacksonville’s waterfront restaurants, it doesn't get much better than Chart House seafood restaurant. Situated right on Southbank and featuring a unique architectural style, Chart House Jacksonville overlooks the city's gorgeous downtown riverfront and is one of the most interesting buildings in the city. Designed by famous architect Kendrick Bangs Kellogg and inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, our restaurant was even voted as one of the top 100 buildings in the state of Florida.
From our prime waterfront location, diners can spot dolphins swimming out front daily and catch the best views in town of all the boat parades and fireworks displays throughout the year. The St. John's River is the perfect backdrop for a romantic evening or stylish happy hour, all while sampling some of the most creative Prime Rib, steak and seafood Jacksonville has to offer.

Underwhelming for the price
I’ve lived in Jacksonville for about three years now and have always heard great things about Chart House, so I finally booked a reservation for my husband’s birthday. The atmosphere and waterfront view are definitely the highlight—the building has a really cool design and the setting is beautiful.
Unfortunately, the food and service didn’t live up to the hype. The drinks were just okay, and our mussel appetizer looked lazily plated with a watery sauce. The side options felt minimal and basic. I ordered the sea bass, which was actually pretty good, but my husband was disappointed with his lobster and vegetables. For the price point, we expected much better execution and presentation. They also randomly served us a bread basket that came out about 20 minutes AFTER our appetizer came out, so I’m not sure if that was the first thing that was supposed to come out while we waited, and the waitress just forgot about it?
Our reservation was at 6:45 PM and we didn’t get our entrées until around 8, with service that was just average throughout the night. Overall, the experience felt underwhelming for what we paid.
I’m glad we finally got to try this iconic Jacksonville spot, and the view alone makes it worth going once—but we won’t be returning. The food was not bad, there was just nothing that stood out. There are several nearby restaurants with more creative menus, better plating, and higher quality food for the same (or lower) price.

Joshua at the bar was absolutely splendid. He was slammed and often the only one behind the bar and so found a way to make us feel like the most important people in the restaurant. Will be back just to have him as our bartender again!!

We celebrated a birthday dinner at this location. We were seated in time with the reservation. The server greeted us well. However, the evening went downhill from there. After spending $400+, we would have expected more. The refilled of the drinks was late. Appetizers were not delivered at the same time and should have considering they were both cold selections, hummus plate and raw oysters. The entrees toke another hour to arrive at the table. The entrees arrived, yet the server did not check back and we needed a couple of items. Bread was offered to appease the wait. We were upsold on the dessert. However, after notifying the restaurant in advance that this was a special birthday, you some what expect a little more than a generic card left in the wine menu. What if we never opened that menu? This is a beautiful location on the river. And this experience was not even close to the outstanding meals we have had there over years.
Disappointing.

Had a great time and dinner. The prime rib a was great and I would definitely get the calamari appetizer if you visit. The only issue was the larger group directly behind us do not understand the term “inside voices”. But that has nothing to do with the restaurant itself. Highly recommend and will be taking my wonderful wife there for a date night.
