When it comes to Jacksonville’s waterfront restaurants, it doesn't get much better than Chart House seafood restaurant. Situated right on Southbank and featuring a unique architectural style, Chart House Jacksonville overlooks the city's gorgeous downtown riverfront and is one of the most interesting buildings in the city. Designed by famous architect Kendrick Bangs Kellogg and inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, our restaurant was even voted as one of the top 100 buildings in the state of Florida.
From our prime waterfront location, diners can spot dolphins swimming out front daily and catch the best views in town of all the boat parades and fireworks displays throughout the year. The St. John's River is the perfect backdrop for a romantic evening or stylish happy hour, all while sampling some of the most creative Prime Rib, steak and seafood Jacksonville has to offer.

If I could leave a negative star I would! It was my daughter’s birthday and we decided to try this place out. Big mistake!!! The waitress was terrible, the food was tasteless and on top of that we waited 40 minutes to get it! The waitress seemed to have an attitude like we were bothering her that we were there. She never asked if we wanted another drink or anything else to drink. She didn’t check in us while we waited. The food came out after 40 minutes and it was completely seasoning free. My daughter whose birthday it was gave her food back didn’t get anything else and was still charged for her dessert! I had the salmon that was crunchy on the bottom and dry, but after waiting so long I tried to get it down(left more than half on the plate) The rice was mushy and crunchy, how does that even happen?! My other daughter and boy friend had the steak, medium well. They say cut the center and check the temp. Then the center is the only part that’s right and the rest was well done. The mashed potatoes that they gave her with the steak were old. How do we know that you ask? Because they had a crust like texture on top that they tried to cover with chives! We have eaten at many places all over Jax and this was by far the worst place we have been to in a very long time!

On my boyfriends birthday while visiting jacksonville, fl I accidentally made reservations at the chop house across the river instead of at Chart house and didn't realize until we arrived at the Chart house right at our reservation time. It was pouring down rain and the Chart house was pretty packed. When the host realized my mistake he immediately told us no problem and that they would find us a table. We sat at the bar waiting for a table and they gave us free drink upgrades while we waited, still printed menus that said happy birthday with my boyfriend's name on it at the last minute, and the service was all around excellent.

We’ve eaten at a couple of Chart House restaurants and this is the first time I’ve rated them at anything other than five stars. Some context: We had a reservation at 9:15 p.m. on Christmas Eve, probably one of the last open seatings for an otherwise sold out night. But I assume for the reputation of the restaurant (and the price) we should have had better.
First the drinks. My wife ordered a Cosmopolitan and I ordered a Zero Proof Cucumber and Honey. Somehow the Cosmo tasted like medicine and my drink wasn’t stirred, so the honey was in a clump at the bottom (and the first thing I tasted through the straw). Our waiter, Christian, who was awesome, took the drink back and replaced it with my wife’s request for a mixed berry Moscow Mule. It was a Moscow Mule, but no berries. But drinkable.
We ordered coconut crunchy shrimp and fried green tomatoes as appetizers. Tomatoes were fine, but the shrimp were brown and overcooked. Bummer. But we didn’t say anything. Then we had Herb Crusted and Slow Roasted Prime Rib (chart house size) and the Mac Nut Mahi. The prime rib was great. The Ahi, sadly, seemed to lack herbs and was a rather flavorless. We didn’t say anything.
We finished the night with lava cake and coffee and that was great. I really don’t like giving bad reviews, but for a $153.47 meal with tip (again, Christian was awesome), we expected better.

My wife and I were celebrating our 30th Anniversary so we decided on this wonderful restaurant to dine. Burt our server was so awesome. He explained the specials, popular dishes, and the wine list. What was unexpected was that when I went to the awesome salad bar Burt would refold my knapkin! We were never rushed and were allowed to enjoy our celebration. Great atmosphere, service, food, and drink. The General Manager also greeted us with a special congrats on our anniversary! To make the evening more special you have to order the Lava Cake for two. Burt, and the staff made our celebration memorable. Thanks Chart House for a wonderful dinning experience!

I love going to the Chart House. The food is always impeccably cooked and the sides are wonderful. The salad bar is great, if you have room for such nonsense after your giant delicious sizzling steak or filet. The portions are perfect. Not too much, not too little. The desserts are good enough to just about make you keel over and expire in place. I wouldn't ordinarily open up my wallet and say the Chart House has the BEST desserts, but it does come to mind. And no, their lava cake is not a gimmick. It's amazing!
And don't forget the incredible service. The wait staff is excellent. Poised and ready to answer any questions you could ever think to ask. They even stay abreast with current events so you know what's going on as you look out their grandiose windows along the water.
There were only two downs from the evening. The place was crazy loud. I mean, I've been in loud restaurants before but this occasion was physically painful to my ears loud. My wife and I marveled at the spectacle of noise. People talking over people, kids screaming, it was a lot of fun. Little bit of a downer.
The other things was the coffee after dessert. It was not very good coffee. Almost tepid and had grounds in it. But it didn't wreck the evening. Not even close. I am still most impressed with the Chart House every time I get to go there and I look forward to coming back again soon. Next time I'll get a Sprite instead of a coffee though. And I might bring ear plugs.
