Short and to the point:
- the food is good, sometimes great. Worth the price.
- Try the chocolate hazelnut torte for dessert. It is a must have (if you like chocolate, hazelnut, delightful crust served warm with vanilla ice cream.
-Must have - LISA, our outstanding professional server.
Want the whole story contine to read the small novella below. It explains my five stars and thanks Lisa for making a difference in our experience.
Full truth, we stopped going to the Carrabbas on Baymeadows because the service became frankly annoying and slow. After their rennovation, they had this awesome new space and ridiculous service. My opinion they spent money on the building and forgot about what mattered most, the service. We eat out often and made the switch to smaller local restaraunts that are more welcoming - we wrote Carrabbas off.
Because we have always enjoyed Carrabbas menu, I am happy to report a wonderful experience today at Carrabbas. The food has always been reliable but today it was awesome. We all enjoyed our meals - Salmon and asparagus was perfect, the steak wss cooked exactly to order and the mashed potatoes were delicious and for me, the sreak and shrimp with linguine was exactly as described. The salads were fresh and plentiful, not the smaller portions of old. I also would highly recommend the chocolate hazelnut torte. Incredible. Warm pastry with the perfect amount of filling topped by vanilla ice cream, with a touch of chocolate drizzle. My sweet tooth was thrilled with this special menu item. This may be a stretch but I am considering ending my next meal there with the torte and their specialty wood fired old fashioned - I don't usually mix my bourbons with anything but cleverly the marketing of the menu created this "wondering" i am going to have to explore.
It's been 8-9 years(?) since they closed the Regency store. We loved that place. The service at Baymeadows has never been as good as the Regency store - until today. The service today was the best it has ever been.
When we first walked in at the host stand was a young man who looked like a deer in the headlights. My first thought was "Sugarpie, nothings changed." No smile, no hello, just blank.... if the first person someone sees walking in your building can't pretend to be welcoming, may be someone's in the wrong job (I am not talking about the kid).
Luckily, this adorable smiling young lady stepped in with a hello, welcome in, how many in your party, would you like a booth or a table - I'm not hard to plesse - that's how people should be made to feel - welcomed.
We were seated and very shortly after the star of our visit, Lisa appeared. Wonderful, incredible, i did my job beautifully, Lisa. She was polite, helpful and timely. She asked what we thought, gave recommendations, ensured that our items from the bar arrived in timely fashion (this in previous visits was a huge problem, you could wait 20 minutes for a glass of house wine). She checked on us after every course was served. She reminded us of the $10 take home option. Our plates were cleared appropriately. I said I was simple and here's my proof - my tea glass stayed full the entire meal. I did not have to ask, she brought them without asking while we were eating. She did ask the last glass, which I thought appropriate given - why waste it.
Her service was flawless. She was the model of service - polite, engaging, interested in our experience and she seemed to understand that the building can be pleasing, the food can be above average but it is the service, the investment of her time to check on our experience that makes all the difference.
We will return again because of Lisa. Everything else being the same - the food, the space - we would have checked back in a year or two. Lisa, her assistant server and the young lady hostess restored our hope for future visits. Thank you Lisa!
If you made it to the end... I still say, ask for Lisa and now you know why. Enjoy!
