Five stars as usual… not my first time but I was so blown away this visit and wanted to leave a well deserved shout out to our amazing server last night Joe! We love going to o ku for special celebrations, our 7yr anniversary was the occasion for this time! Joe took exceptional care of us all night (the whole team was lovely and attentive!) he sent us out an order of the yellowtail carpaccio (his treat) and gave us a goodie bag filled with snacks, a candle & a reusable film camera! Plus an anniversary card signed by the whole team. Wow… thank you guys for making us feel so special. We ate and left no crumbs as usual. Best sushi you can find anywhere in Florida!

From the moment I walked into Oku in Jacksonville Beach, the experience was exceptional.
I was greeted immediately and seated at the very end of the sushi bar around 5:10 PM. From start to finish, it was seamless. The energy behind the bar was upbeat, collaborative, and genuinely positive — something you don’t always see, especially having spent over 20 years in the industry myself. No chaos. No tension. Just a team working together, supporting one another, and delivering at a high level.
Kayla was absolutely lights out. Knowledgeable, personable, attentive without hovering — a true professional and a fantastic human. She elevated the entire experience.
I ordered the El Jefe and Fuego rolls — both outstanding. Bold flavors, beautifully presented, and perfectly balanced. The rock shrimp appetizer is a must. The yellowtail was also exceptional — incredibly fresh and clean. Every dish hit.
The manager stopped by and was equally impressive — warm, engaged, and clearly proud of the team and the brand. I missed his name, but not the impact. The leadership shows.
The restaurant itself was spotless. Service was prompt. Food came out efficiently. It was impressive to watch the staff move as one unit — real teamwork, real hospitality.
I dined solo and they made me feel like I was the most important person in the world!
Having lived in Charleston for nearly 15 years and experienced Oku there many times, it’s powerful to see the brand executed this well in Jacksonville Beach. Massive respect to Steve Palmer and the entire Indigo Road group. They know how to build culture, and it shows.
If you’re considering going — go. Sit at the sushi bar. Try the rock shrimp. Order the El Jefe or Fuego. Ask for Kayla.
Outstanding experience. I’ll be back.

The reservations don't mean anything because they don't set aside any reserved tables. I got the text our table was ready 40 minutes after we checked in with the hostess. You might as well just walk up and get in line for a table.

Food was great, drinks were great. Service was slow and inattentive to those at the window bar area. Sat and waited 15 minutes just for them to notice I was finished and wanted my ticket. I was there 2 hours as a 1 person party and most of it was simply waiting. A little frustrating, but the food mostly made up for it.

My boyfriend and I had an incredible time here. We sat upstairs and the only server up there was Katia. She was handling everyone's food and drinks without breaking a sweat. She's so knowledgeable of the menu and made sure we were always good on drinks. The food itself is literally the best sushi I've had (and I've had a lot of good sushi!) but Katia truly made the experience 5-stars. Thank you to Katia for making our night extra smooth and special for us
