I took my lawyer out for his birthday, and the experience at Mastro’s was incredible from the moment we walked in until well after dinner. The view was fabulous and set the tone for a truly special night. I had called ahead to mention it was his birthday, and the attention to detail completely blew us away—the manager, Luke, personalized the menus and even wrote Happy Birthday with my guest’s name on them. Such a thoughtful touch.
The oysters were unbelievably fresh, straight from New England, and the tomahawk steak was cooked to absolute perfection. They even brought out a hot plate so we could sear the meat just a touch more at the table—perfectly done. The service, the food, the ambiance, and the personal touches all came together for a flawless evening. Mastro’s exceeded every expectation and made this birthday celebration truly unforgettable.

Magnificent is the only word that sums up Mastro's Restaurant. The food is sumptuous and the Jerk Grouper is other-wordly. The bartenders are drink masters and the wait staff are attentive, knowledgeable and professional. Dining here is an experience, not dinner out. They go out of their way to ensure your night is memorable. They have live entertainment that adds to the experience. Mastro's is not cheap, but the food, atmosphere and drinks make it worth the money. I can't say that for every high-end restaurant. If you are in the Ft. Lauderdale area I recommend Mastro's.

Absolutely unacceptable experience at Mastro’s Fort Lauderdale, and even more unacceptable was how management handled it.
My husband and I were dining with our 4-year-old son and were clearly rushing to leave because it was getting late. When the bill came, my husband handed his credit card directly to the server so he could run it while we gathered our things. When he returned, my husband was given the credit card receipt to sign (the one where you add the tip). Thankfully, he looked at the itemized receipt underneath before signing.
The actual bill was $316.72.
The credit card receipt was for $388.14.
That is a massive discrepancy and NOT a rounding error.
When we confronted the server, he brushed it off as a “mistake” with zero explanation, accountability, or apology. We immediately involved a manager — who shockingly took the server’s side and dismissed the issue entirely. No concern, no investigation, no ownership.
It is painfully obvious what happened here: the server entered an inflated total assuming we would add a 20% tip on top of an already increased amount and not notice, especially since we were rushed and distracted with a child. That is deceptive at best and fraudulent at worst.
What’s most disturbing is that management allowed this to slide. At a restaurant of this caliber and price point, this behavior should be taken extremely seriously. Instead, it was brushed off as if overcharging guests by more than $70 is no big deal.
This needs to be addressed by corporate immediately. If this happened to us, it is absolutely happening to other guests. Check your receipts carefully, especially if you’re in a hurry.
For a brand like Mastro’s, this experience was disgraceful.
Oh my husband still tipped 20% on the correct amount because that’s the kind of people we are.

I’ve been to several Mastro’s Ocean Club locations, and this is the only one where I have ever been treated so poorly. From the moment I arrived during my first visit, I felt uncomfortable, watched, and judged—like I didn’t belong there or was suspected of doing something wrong. The experience felt discriminatory and humiliating.
Despite that, I still wanted to give this location the benefit of the doubt. I made a reservation for New Year’s Eve through OpenTable to try again. Shortly after, I received a call canceling my reservation. I was told it was because my OpenTable “score” was low and that I had multiple no-shows—which is completely untrue.
I attempted to calmly explain this to the manager and pointed out how unfair it was to cancel a reservation one day before New Year’s Eve based on incorrect information. The manager refused to have a discussion and told me he would not be talking about it further.
Between the original treatment and how this situation was handled, this location clearly does not operate with the professionalism or respect expected from the Mastro’s name. My experiences at other Mastro’s Ocean Club locations have never been like this.
I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this location to anyone who expects fair, respectful, and professional treatment.

Awful for an outrageous price. Tuna tartar was not fresh, loaded with onions to mask that, hardly edible. Oysters Rockefeller were too mushy, liquidy, loaded with overcooked spinach. Jerked grouper was overdone, too much jerk spice, a waste. Yucky all the way. Also they charge $5 for a basket of the most horrible bread. The service is poor, pretentious
