I never saw him wash his hands, yet he handled nigiri, hand rolls, and specialty sushi while touching other objects, including his glasses, which kept slipping. He even opened a curtain to enter the kitchen with a soda can and did not wash his hands afterward. He was also wearing a large ring. The experience felt very unhygienic. I have attended similar omakase experiences before, and the difference is striking.

The service was amazing, the food was incredible—as it always is at any Sushi by Bou location—and the vibes were great. If you’ve ever been to the Las Olas location, I think a lot would agree it was something special. Unfortunately, it has since closed. While the Great Gatsby–themed atmosphere at this location is fun, I think it ultimately comes down to personal preference. The Las Olas location had a cool disco vibe that felt completely different, and I absolutely loved it (maybe because I’m younger). That said, if you love sushi and aren’t a picky eater, Sushi by Bou is a must. I will always recommend this place to anyone I know!
