I’m a big lover of Charleys. I just want to say that. I’ve been going to Charleys since I was 8 after basketball practices and whenever i’d stop by the mall. Now i’m 20. Today, I stopped by this Charleys since we moved to the area recently. As typical for this location; super long lines. But, again, Charleys has always had a hard time keeping up with mall traffic anyways so I went for it anyways. Get to the cash register to order- I ask for a regular chicken california with only mayo and ranch. Simple, right? Cashier asks if i’d like to upgrade it to a combo meal to get 10% off. I said sure since, who would turn down a good deal? Suddenly, my regular chicken california on the screen was changed to a large and with a large fry, the combo price was 6.99$ despite the menu reading ~5.69$ (can’t remember the exact price but around this). Immediately I backpedaled and said nevermind, and then the cashier tried to keep the large which I then had to remind I only wanted a regular. We finished up the order (I had gone with my brother) and waited for our food. I’ve always liked the chicken California the way the sample is. It’s juicy, simple, savory. Had it the same way for years, so i’m pretty keen on the flavor. The guy in the food prep station was very noticeably skimping on every possible topping for every sandwich. I’m talking 8 shreds of lettuce for a large sub. Pretty strange. My brother and I get our food and upon eating it- mine doesn’t taste right. I dismiss it, thinking its just because there was very little mayo and ranch on it compared to usual (because of the prep station). Well. Right now, my stomach is aching in pain and i’ve vomitted in my mouth twice. Something had to have been wrong with the food. Not saying this is all Charley’s but theres something majorly wrong with the training for the employees here. Or maybe its management. I’m not entirely sure. But please think twice before coming to the Altamonte Mall location.

The cashier did not give me my change. He also did not clean up a huge spill and it got all over my dress. He then proceeded to blame a customer. This is still my favorite Charley's and the majority of the employees go out of the way to make sure the customers are happy.

I went to Charleys Philly Steaks this evening, and my experience reminded me exactly why I stopped going there. I ordered a small veggie sandwich with fries and a drink. My order number was 92. I stood in front of the window where they prepare the food, and after waiting for a few minutes, I saw the woman in a red-collar shirt (who I believe was a manager) finally put my veggies on the grill. After another few minutes, they called out numbers 93, 94, and even 95 ..all full-sized Philly steak meals while my small veggie sandwich still wasn’t ready. I asked why was my sandwich not worked on, and only then did she toss some cheese on my veggies. She left it there for maybe 30 seconds before serving it to me. The cheese wasn’t even melted it was still cold. When I took a bite, the sandwich tasted so bad that I couldn’t even eat it. I ended up throwing the whole thing in the trash. It was a total waste of money and time. This visit just reminded me why I stopped going to Charleys before and it’ll definitely be my last time.
