Last month, the night before Thanksgiving, I went to pick up a turkey dinner I had pre-ordered from the Acme on Fox Hunt Drive in Bear, Delaware. Although I live out of state, I picked this location because it has a good reputation. But I was genuinely stunned when they told me they could not find my order. The store director immediately apologized and worked to figure out a solution. “You want me to cook a fresh turkey?” I said, frowning. “It’s easier than you think,” he replied. “Let me walk you through it.” I regret that I don’t remember his name, but what I do remember is how far he went to make things right. Not only did he give me his own full recipe, he rounded up every ingredient I would need including a fresh turkey, and made sure I received the items that were missing from my prepaid dinner. He also promised to give me a free Christmas dinner if mine didn't turn out right. I should say this: I do not mess with turkeys. I ruined one years ago during a holiday and still have nightmares about it. But the store director was patient, reassuring, and even suggested cooking the turkey in a bag. I was skeptical and nervous. I had guests coming and was convinced the main dish would somehow go wrong again. It didn’t. The turkey came out perfect. In fact, they demolished it! Because of him, our holiday dinner was completely salvaged, and I cannot thank him enough for that. I wanted to take a moment to let you know that you have an exemplary employee at that location, someone who truly went above and beyond when it mattered. Thank you and Merry Christmas! Satisfied customer.

Came in at 532pm for a Western Union. No one at customer service desk and was told 5 minutes. No problem. Five minutes later an employee casually walks by and says “ it’s gonna be 20 more minutes because I gotta take lunch and nobody said nothing” and goes right into the room behind counter with any regard. 556pm and still here waiting. Maybe 11 people already asked me if I’m waiting and where’s the backup. Nothing. Just a miserable employee protruding her unpleasantness onto customers. If customer interaction is not for you then please don’t work here. I’ll go to the Acme at the Grove instead…..25 years at this one

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thanksgiving Shopping at ACME on Kirkwood Highway I stopped by ACME on Kirkwood Highway to get everything needed for Thanksgiving dinner, and overall it had its ups and downs. The store offers a decent selection: produce looked fresh, the meat and deli sections gave me what I needed, and I found most of the staples I was looking for — like stuffing, sides, and dessert ingredients. The store was fairly convenient, with good hours (open early morning to late evening) which made it easier to shop around my work schedule. The deli and bakery sections were helpful when I grabbed some ready-made side dishes and pies — real time-savers when prepping for a holiday meal. On the downside, prices were a bit higher than I expected — especially compared to bigger discount stores nearby. Also, during peak holiday rush the aisles got crowded and some items seemed to sell out quickly (sold-out turkey size or pumpkin pie ingredients), which made the experience a little stressful. All said — ACME did the job: I got most of what I needed for Thanksgiving dinner without running all over town. If you plan carefully and shop early (before the big rush), it’s a workable

Compared to other supermarkets in the area they are by far the highest. The people who work self serve checkout are rude and think every customer is stealing from them. Rotisserie chicken and seafood department are side by side. The deli clerk has to wait on chicken as well. If they are busy and nobody is at seafood side, the obnoxious seafood person will tell you its not their department and cannot help you. When you tell customer service their response they shrug their shoulders as so what. Having customers with dogs in a shopping cart intended for food adds that special touch of a store not caring about shoppers.
