Sushi by Bou absolutely spoiled us in the best way possible.
We came for the omakase and left wondering if regular sushi even deserves to be called sushi anymore. Chef Alex was incredible. Every single piece was delicious, beautifully presented, and explained so well that each bite felt like its own little event. He wasn’t just making sushi, he was creating tiny edible works of art with the confidence of someone who knows he’s about to make your day better. And he did.
After the omakase, we moved from the bar to a table and got to enjoy an amazing view of the Capitol and the Washington Monument, which somehow made the whole experience feel even more special. We ordered one of Chef Alex’s limited-time creations, the Cherry Blossom Roll, and it was absolutely fantastic.
Then Chef Patrick entered the scene with enough energy and charisma to light up the whole place. While we waited, he surprised us with one of his hand-rolled masterpieces to sample, and it was phenomenal. At that point, it honestly felt like Sushi by Bou had decided we were not allowed to have an ordinary evening.
Between Chef Alex and Chef Patrick, we got the perfect mix of talent, creativity, personality, and unforgettable flavor. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the entire experience had so much heart behind it.
We will definitely be back soon for the omakase again. Sushi by Bou didn’t just serve dinner — they gave us a whole experience, and we left smiling the entire way out.
Sushi by Bou DC is one of my absolute favorite spots in DC—especially the Chef’s Counter Omakase experience. The quality of the sushi is outstanding, and I’ve heard they source from the same vendors as many of the top sushi restaurants in NYC. The chefs are Michelin-trained and truly respect traditional Japanese techniques, which really shows in every course.
One of my favorite parts of visiting is when Chef Patrick McCullough is at the counter. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, takes his craft very seriously, and genuinely puts his heart into making sure every guest has an exceptional experience. His attention to detail and passion really stand out.
What I also love about this place is that it’s not just about the Chef’s Counter. It’s a great spot to visit any day of the week—even just to enjoy the atmosphere and views. Whether you’re stopping in for cocktails or ordering from the à la carte menu created by Head Chef Alexis, there’s always something special to enjoy.
My personal favorites are the Wagyu dumplings with truffle sauce and the special maki rolls. Highly recommend checking this place out!
Cannot Forget my best friends Fino, Alvaro and DJ Wilber!

I had the pleasure of attending a special event at Sushi by Bou, and it was an unforgettable experience. The tuna cut show was absolutely impressive-a true display of skill and passion for the craft. Every dish we tried was exquisitely prepared, with fresh ingredients and perfectly balanced flavors.
A special shoutout to Chef Alex and Patrick, whose dedication and creativity are evident in every detail of the menu. The bartender also did an incredible job, crafting cocktails that perfectly complemented our culinary experience.
The restaurant's atmosphere, combined with the attentive staff, made the evening enjoyable and memorable. Without a doubt, Sushi by Bou is a must-visit for anyone seeking quality, spectacle, and a truly unique dining experience.
We had an amazing experience at Sushi by Bou during a special event that truly elevated both service and dining. The tuna cutting show was absolutely impressive—watching the precision, technique, and respect for the product live is something you don’t get to see every day.
The food quality matched the spectacle: every piece of sushi was fresh, well-balanced, and full of flavor. The sake pairing complemented the experience perfectly, adding an authentic and elegant touch that tied everything together.
You can really tell the team puts effort into creating more than just a dinner—it’s a full, interactive, and memorable experience. Definitely a place I’d come back to and highly recommend to anyone looking for something unique and high-quality. 🍣✨

I’ve been to Sushi by Bou before and had good experiences, which made tonight’s tuna carving event in DC even more frustrating.
This event was massively oversold. It was so overcrowded that you couldn’t even see the carving—which is the entire point of the event. People were packed shoulder to shoulder, and every time sushi came out, it turned into a free-for-all. Trays barely made it a couple of feet out of the prep area before getting completely swarmed. I literally had to elbow my way just to get anything, which is not what you expect when you’re paying for an experience like this.
The music was blasting so loud that everyone had to yell just to be heard, making the whole situation even more chaotic and stressful.
I wish I could have gotten my money back and left much sooner. This was a huge disappointment and a complete miss in terms of organization and crowd control. If you’re going to host an event like this, there needs to be serious limits on capacity and a better system for actually letting guests enjoy what they paid for.
