Love this giant. It’s clean, well stocked, and has a good selection. The staff are friendly and genuinely care about customers. My kids love shopping here!
Like a treasure hunt, this location has 50% and 75% deals hidden throughout the store, and usually clustered in the pre-cut produce, organic food, and frozen. By buying those things - and combined with the Giant app - I can usually save around 20-25% on my entire cart compared to Giant’s full price. But Giant already offers consistently better prices than most other grocers, it feels like by $0.50+ per item on average. A full cart that would cost $500+ at Safeway costs around $350 at Giant, so I can feed the whole family for “less” (if you can say that of any grocery prices these days!). This location has the best deals of any Giant around town.
For the balanced review: Some aisles like medical and alcohol have been reduced to basics, which means this location is no longer a reliable “one stop shop”. There is a loud siren at the front, camera in the parking lot, and security guards check every receipt. I’ve witnessed some unfortunate incidents, and usually the Giant staff handle it professionally. It’s clear that staff want to get through their day at work safe and bs free, but it’s also clear that sometimes that can be a challenge. I leave the kids home when shopping here at night.
Produce and seafood are always fresh, but you might have to ask a worker from a different department to help you. There is plenty of security, but they do nothing to stop the shoplifters. The alarm bells usually ring once or twice during a quick stop.

I had a very disappointing experience at the Giant on Alabama Avenue. My children and I stopped by the pharmacy after coming from school and work, and we had our backpacks with us. In the past, we were always required to leave our bags with security, which at least gave some sense that our belongings were being watched.
However, today we were told we could no longer leave our bags with security and instead had to leave them outside the door or in a shopping cart completely unattended. When I asked if anyone would be watching our belongings, I was told no, and that Giant would not be responsible if anything was stolen.
This is completely unacceptable. Asking customers to leave personal items unattended with no supervision or accountability is unreasonable and shows a lack of concern for customer safety and property.
Because of this experience, Giant on Alabama Avenue has lost my business.

My son is sick and needed to get some things off doordash. Dasher stated in the middle of shopping she was being kicked out of the store stating they were closing at 9pm. It was 8:11pm when she started shopping. I had literally 10 items and a lot of them were doubled items. Dasher wrote me about ten minutes to close to say she couldn’t complete my order because the store said so. INSANE! She was already in the store!!! I have worked for many grocery stores as well as a dasher and I have NEVER heard of such in my life. Then when I called the store to ask when they closed because on “Maps” it states 12am, the woman answered the phone “this is Alabama Ave Giant we close at 9” and hung up lol. Just an unbelievable experience. I don’t usually do reviews , but we have to do better SERIOUSLY!!
