Why are there no carts available near the store? All of them are outside all over the place on a busy Saturday is not good.

I normally don’t shop at this Safeway or any others for that matter unless I need something quickly. You can hardly ever get what you need and get out of the store. It’s always a long wait, a few lanes open, self-checkout packed down the aisle, just a mess! Tonight I went to get a few things to include Dove hair products which are behind the counter in customer service. I asked an associate for assistance and was told customer service was closed even though I just wanted to purchase an item from back there. I was told I should have got it when I was in the line but I forgot about it. I mean, what’s the difference? What a shame it is to need something in plain sight that I cannot purchase because customer service is closed. What if I had a return? Why is customer service even closed when the store is operating at 6pm in the evening? It makes no sense to me. I understand that certain products are locked away for security purposes but good lord, let people purchase what they need!

Horrible experience shopping here. Never again! I have been shopping at this location of Safeway for 3 years. A few weeks ago I went to grab a few items. I couldn’t find a basket so I used my shopping bag to hold some of the items I couldn’t hold in my hand. I emptied my bag during checkout and held it open for the cashier to see and the manager hovering nearby who was signaling security to check certain customers’s bags as they exited the store. I payed for my items and on the way out security asks for my bag and receipt and the 4 of them proceed to check off every item against the receipt. I take a few steps away from them so they could conduct their investigation and I was doing something on my phone when the lady security snaps a picture of me. No explanations, no one tells me the results of their investigation so I could get a chance to maybe explain, just a bunch of people accusing me - only the assumption of criminality! It is that assumption of criminality that does not allow 4 security guards to properly count 8 items on my receipt. I don’t mind the search. But after providing evidence of my purchase to 4 security guards only to be accused of stealing, then they double down when I protest and proceed to take my picture without explanation or be given a chance to explain is harassment and discriminatory. Some of the security guards apologized while I rebagged my items and offered some bizarre explanation about how they didn’t see the items on the receipt at first. I was fuming and really embarrassed but I left quietly not wanting to cause scene. Once I got home I called their corporate office and reported the incident. They were apologetic and offered me the chance to get a call from the manager. I agreed because I wanted them to understand how they made me feel as a customer and that there is procedural problem with how they are handling security. Never got the call. I never went back. Thankfully Lidl has opened across the street. They have better prices, they don’t have self-checkout machines with loud overlapping instructions that feels like you are shopping is some dystopian nightmare, and they treat me well.
