Never Going To This Giant Again. I Went Looking For Some Breakfast Food. Security Tried To Take My Work Bookbag Which Is Government Property. Wouldn’t Let Me Shop Because I Didn’t Let Him Take My Bookbag. I Took My Time To Walk In There Which Is A 30 Minute Walk From My Job.

Very rude self checkout worker saw that I was over the 20 item limit (there was no clearly posted sign) and voided my entire transaction. I was almost done, and multiple other kiosks were open, so I was in no way holding anything up. Any reasonable person would have simply told me about the rule, and I would have happily agreed to abide by it the next time. But this employee was extremely rude through the entire interaction, and I then saw her doing the same with another customer who appeared to be *just barely* over the limit. I’m more than happy to follow the rules as soon as I’m made aware of them but voiding my entire transaction and making me redo my entire checkout at a cashier lane is just ridiculous.

This is a good Giant food location. Decent sized store, good selection, near Metro. They also have a lot of self-service machines so you can ring yourself up.... Although the one I tried to use was buggy as hell.

Although this location has superb grocery selections, some of its policy run in the opposite direction. This store has a tag your bag policy, upon entering the store. But it does not tag briefcases or any other type of bags. This does not make sense. Nevertheless, this location has security guards that tag your backpacks. One guard in particular, snatches your bag from your back to tag it. To make matters worse, when you leave the store after spending your money, the guards, especially the one referenced previously, charges toward you to SNATCH the tag that they put on with much hostility. To avoid confrontation, due to me knowing that these are not very competent individuals, after I paid for my groceries, I began taking the tag off my backpack and hand it to the security at the front door. Yesterday, he stated that I was not allowed to take the tag off, and that he was the only person to SNATCH the tag off of my property. What sense does this make? Ridiculous? I asked him what was the rationale for this policy that allows him to SNATCH TAGS off the customer's property. He pointed to the sign posted in the store that states, "[C]ustomer's consent to having their bag searched upon entering the store." Again, nonsense. His response did not make sense to why he was the only person required to remove the tags in a hostile manner. In my mind, this process is a likened to harassment, stalking, and a number of other offenses. I do not understand why cannot a customer simply go into this location, spend their money, and leave; without these security guards interfering with that process. The location is convenient for me to buy my daily bananas and apples and bottled water prior to me going to my law school, minutes away. Being a 17 year U.S. Army Veteran and, current, federal agent, and law school graduate; this procedure, especially the one particular security guard, process should be re-examined to not make productive citizens feel like they are being harassed by hostile security guards, who cannot seem to properly explain store policy. Incompetent?
