Good, reliable pub/restaurant in a very central location in downtown DC. Tasty British themed classics at a mid-range price point, it fills an important niche in the downtown DC dining scene, which is filled with expensive restaurants requiring prior reservations. It's an excellent spot to stop by and take a group after visiting the Smithsonian museums or after walking around the National Mall. It's also one of the few places that's relatively easily accessible for day-trip tourists (about a half mile, 10–15-minute walk from the Mall and right across the street from the Federal Triangle metro station). The service can be a little slow at times but it's friendly and attentive. I've been there several times with groups, and it's been a steady, positive experience each time, even when we've come later in the evening.

My husband and I came here last Friday night before a comedy show. We sat in the bar area and Angelique (sp?) was the bartender that night. They were *slammed* but she was so positive, professional, didn't stop smiling and made the best Irish coffees. We appreciate you and your hard work!

Went on a Friday evening around 6 pm ish and the place was basically empty. It seemed to me that it must be a Monday through Friday after work place but not necessarily on a Friday night. There was only one bartender serving the whole bar. We ordered the sweet potato fries and they were bland and the chipotle sauce that came with it was watered down. I know this is a chain because I’ve been to their location in Chicago. I probably won’t go back here. Not worth it when the city is full of bars/restaurants.

Rashaad was an amazing waiter during our visit to Elephant & Castle. He was super friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed the whole time. He checked in at the right moments, had great recommendations, and kept a great attitude the entire time.
You can tell he really cares about making sure guests have a good experience. He definitely helped make our meal even better. If you go to Elephant & Castle, ask for Rashaad, you won’t be disappointed! 😊

TERRIBLE SERVICE EVER!!!!
I came with my husband and my 1-year-old daughter. From the moment we walked in, they gave us a rude look and showed us to our table. The waiter RASHAAD was incredibly distracted. We ordered Buffalo Wings and two hamburgers without pickles, tomato, or onions. They brought us the hamburgers with onions, tomato, and pickles. Then we looked for the waiter to ask for mayonnaise, but he never appeared. A very kind gentleman from the bar went to get it. When the waiter returned, we asked him what happened to the wings, and he just said, "Oh shit." It's worth noting that the restaurant was empty; there were only three tables, and ours was the fourth. We told him not to bring the wings again. He never came back to ask if everything was alright until the very end to give us the bill WITH AN ATTITUDE, We will never go back there.
